Are the KRL really that much better?
I don't mind paying the difference if it is worth it.

And, no.
I don't want to hear how much better Craftsman/HF/Husky/BBQ/MAC/Waterloo boxes are. They aren't. :flipoff2:

i think they are 100% worth it:smokin: ive got a KRL7003(i think)and i love it. its bigger and built alot better than the KRA's. i think the KRA's are the "entry level" line.

if you are buying a box you plan on keeping for your lifetime buy the krl..I have had one for 5 years now,,,my helper even tipped it over and it survived with only one bent slider...there is nothing like being in the other room and hear your 6 ft long rollcab crashing over...:cool2:

I bought kra top and bottom cabinets used back in 1983 and still have them along with 2 side cabinets and a center section yes roller drawers would be nice and I tried a mac mb 1500 when they came out for the work top but found out it didn't have enouggh space. I have moved my boxed to more jobs then I care to remember and the top box was in my bronco years ago when I rolled it and it still works
I want to see any other boxes go through what mine had and survive I went through many crapmans boxes for race boxes before I replaced them with my old top box and bought a new top to replace mine
I would have loved to had the newer fancy boxes that they have now but am to tight to pay the money for them and sofar twice now I have worked in shops that have been robbed and they left my old worn out boxes alone and stole the nice new stuff

I got the KRA5319 for my rollcab. I can't imagine making it better, but I'm not a professional mechanic. If I used mine all-day, everyday maybe I could justify getting a KRL series.
Mines an '05 that I got used from a SnapOn dealer. It was so cheap, I'd have shot a friend if they'd passed on it.

The KRL's have heavier metal -- more welds -- better corner joints -- stronger drawer slides -- deeper and taller drawers -- and a higher sale and resale price.

If you have the bux the KRL's are the way to go.

BTW, most Snappy dealers will give you what you paid for the old box on a trade to a new KRL. At least, I will.

should of explained better, on a roadcall and when I got back after shift change it was like that but nobody done it at work (the same story I hear from the kids at home), and I do have a cover for it but thanks for the tip

I have both KRA and KRL, I like the KRA for a road box due to the friction slides. I purposely do not lube them so the drawers are hard to slide open preventing a drawer from opening accidentally while driving. For a "perminant" location shop box I do like the KRL with the roller slides better.
If you do roll a box with roller slides around the shop triple check the drawers to be certain they are locked. I now use one ratchet strap around the entire box as a safety to prevent the drawers fron sliding out when moving my box. I did have my box tip over on me while moving it, pinning me against a wall. It was amazing how fast it went over, and how heavy, and difficult it was to stand it back up.

All the new Snap On boxes have drawer locks. You have to slide a piece of plastic with finger grooves to the side to open the drawers. They are the only ones with this feature. If you don't have them, then you must have an earlier version of the box.

If you do have the drawer locks, and they are not holding, contact your dealer. They are part of the life-time warranty.
