Thank's,

yea, traction bar definitely good. do you have a spring over. I dont know about any kits but make sure if youre using the basic rod type with a heim and bushing that the mounting point on the axle is at least 4" above the spring. This isnt a big deal with a spring under but many times guys will not have the mount high enough and the bushing will rotate on the same axis as the spring because the mount isn't high enough.

Yea, I'm spoa have a gr2 case with 31x11.50 just enough to get serious axle wrap no time to make my own, So I must buy a traction bar and i'm deciding between breeze or spidertrax.

Time for a

There are lots of types out there, but I think the design popularized by Sam's Offroad are the way to go.

clutch on dry Pav and the axle dont move, the rear of the truck lifts but thats normal I highly recomend it but thats just my 02

I say go with the Breeze bar. Like SCWA said.... anything designed like the Sam's bar works great. ;)

look Ive been feeding the mice steroids for 6 months it,s not a 1.3 anymore it's a 1.3.11111 my point is 33" 4:16 t-case and 4:57 r/p and roughly 4# air in the tires It spone the tires and NOTHING broke to where is if I had done that before the track bar I'm sure no I no I would have twisted a spring.:flipoff2: :emb:

What axle are you running UZI? How did you mount the Breeze Bar? Is it just weded to the stock tube , or did you reinforce in any way?

Have seen people pulling the Track bars off, me included. Ripped out of my danna 44. Not sure if its too much torque, too much flex, or bad geometry.

How far around the tube does the Breeze mount go?

ALL THE WAY AROUND

yup, what he said Mud.
not only can i not Laser cut plate steel, but what with my palsy and damn wandering eye, my welding isn"t fer sh!t either.:D

seriously, though- for the price and craftsmanship combination, a tried and proven design, a local company of enthusiastic Suzuki Samurai lovers..... i would've been silly to go any other route, personally.
the mounting wraps around the entire tube (stock '91 sammy)

I always thought it was a bad thing top weld all the way around the axle tube? Did you check to see that the axle is still straight ?
I try to keep to one side or the other.

Mudlite(or anyone else),
I'm having a traction bar made up(can't afford to buy one:D ) How do you weld it up to a stock zuk axle? I'm going Toy's next year but need to keep the YJs from twisting until then. I was looking for a way to weld it on without ripping a hole in the axle tube.

i think you might actually be better off welding the thing all the way around(careful to weld in small sections at a time so it don't heat up too much)......i read somewhere that the NASCAR guys align they're rear housings by heating one side of the tube and letting the metal draw up.....same thing could happen when you weld on one side of the tube right?.....just a thought......i'm usually full of shit tho:confused:

That SEARCH button really does work! Here's a thread from a while back.....
http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37669&highlight=traction+bar
I attached a few photos of my traction bar in there.

Then, my bar was untested. Went to Tellico last weekend and gave it a thorough thrashing/testing. So far, all is good.;)

CSR,
Sorry I troubled you with a question that YOU answered, but I was looking for a better looking traction bar with more ground clearence and less bolt on crap. I need weld on thank you.....next!

WTF? Was I even replying to you? And what was your stupid-assed question again?

How to weld to the axle and not rip a hole in it?

Unfortunately, I've done that. I welded a traction bar right to the axle and ripped it open. I tried something different this time and so far it's holding up well to off-road abuse. Wasn't trying to be an ass, just sharing my experiences.

So if you don't want your questions answered, keep them to yourself, you'll appear smarter that way.

I try to keep to one side or the other.

well to tell the truth, i had researched a little prior to going for the trac bar in the first place, and was convinced by the reports of possible damage to the axle tube/s from basically four sources:

A: stress on the axle tube itself via too little surface contact area and the torque being fed into it, when it wasn't really designed for such a purpose.

B: too much stress put on the axle tube BECAUSE of excess welding done, (improperly) which caused the axle to become embrittled in the areas that needed to be the strongest.

C: existing old/damaged axle tubes that weren't examined thoroughly before welding done.

D: a poor or not well thought out design in the first place, that bound up under flex and tore the metal from fatigue.

(i left out "user" damage from crunching into things, but now that i think of it, that may very well be something to consider, too.)

oh, and the axle tubes themselves have 360* circumferential welds on them from the factory (for what it's worth LOL), but i don't lose sleep at night with gnawing fear or anything :D

i have not heard of a Breeze system ever failing?
(plus i had the good fortune of having the Breeze guy's themselves weld the mount to the housing.)

i will be the first to post pictures if my axle tube ever goes kablooie. :D
