rockcrawler wheels?? I have not read up on this but I keep seeing Generalee or whatever his name is saying that they wont work on a reverse center. I "GUESS" mine are reverse centers???? I dont really know. I know that I got em from 4WP a few years ago with 2.5" backspacing and I guess I am not seeing why they wont work.

Help me out as I am fixin to buy some DIY locks in the next month or 2.

not sure but they would probable hit the calipers if beadlock'd in the inside.SHould work fine on the outside though, measure where the wheel wts' would go,this should be the same and since the DIY locks drop into this lip.I don't see a problem beadlok'n the outside.

Well, I dont see a problem either unless I was reading generalees post wrong. It has the regular lip on the wheel and I am not beadlocking the inside near the brakes, just the outside.

Maybe I am just over thinking it.

I think it has to do with the way a tire mounts from the opposite side of the wheel on a reverse center wheel. Also, I don't think that reverse center wheels have the extra lip on the inner bead (brake side) to hold on the tire at low pressures.

Bingo the iner bead is more likley to come off with a min ofset rim that is why they do not recumend running them with diy bead lock,s it is not that you can not run them just not a good idea.:shaking:

On regular center wheels, the drop center is on the front (meaning thats the only way for the tire to mount onto the rim AND the easiest to break the bead off the wheel). On reverse center wheels, the drop center is now in the rear, making that the easier bead to break. If you pull your wheel off, you will clearly see the drop center and how it's easier to put the tire on whichever side that is. I've read numerous stories of how guys put DIY beadlocks on reverse center wheels and having a hell of a time with it.

Exactly correct. you will damage the tire if the drop center is not deep enough to let the sire slide over the outside of the lock. tire beads do not stretch they are very strong and you will ruin the bead. Some wheels drop center are deep enough to use even with reverse center But not very many. If you want to see if you can use your wheels. take them to a tire shop and see if they can mount the tire from the front if they can you are good.
