My rear window no longer works from the key. I am wondering how I get at the lock cylinder to have a look at what is going on. DO I have to get at it by the window access panel on the backside of the tailgate or can I pop of that little raised peice of molding that the sylinder sits in, the one with TOYOTA printed on it. I have tried both and can't see how I get at the cylinder.

Thanks

You get at it from inside. If the window is up, then you have an interesting challenge ahead of you if the console switch doesnt work either. If the console switch still works, chances are you just have a dirty switch and some TV tuner cleaner will fix that.

The problem I had with mine was the plastic clip holding the wire harness out of the way of the window had broken, and the wire harness had got caught up in the window and pulled the plug off of the lock cylinder. In order to get the window to go up and down, assuming that it still works from the console, just open the tailgate and close the latches. This will fool the window switches into thinking that it is closed and allow you easy acess to behind the window. The rear outside panel is held on by two nuts and a plastic nut.
