I asked about this on another board, and never got any answers, so I'm asking here.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you haven't checked the link in my sig, go for it, that's what I'm building.
I've seen a few bead rollers, and have a basic understanding of how they work, but don't really know much about them. What can the cheap ones do? I'm going to be using at least 16ga. Can they do curves and radiuses?
What happens when you try to cross another bead, like making an "X"?
Tanx for any info!

I have a cheapie from Harbor Freight. It does everything I ask it to do, but it is kinda wimpy for the heavier stuff-I don't know what gauge it rolls well, I don't bother to measure :flipoff2:

Curves and radii quality are more dependent upon operator skill than much else-yes, you can roll curves and radii. Making Xs will usually result in mashing the sides of the first bead when you roll over it making the second one, but this can be reduced by feeding the material from both sides, stopping at the cross before you mash the crossing point.

Okay, let me ask this, If I start with a perfectly square piece of steel, and roll a few beads in the middle of it, will the peice still be square when I'm done, or will it be warped to Shiat?

Shouldn't be too bad although I'd suggest rolling your beads and then squaring it up if it's that important.
