I have an 87 x-cab that I want to swap full width chevy axles into and trying to decide what type of system to go with.I thought of maybe using 3 link(front and rear) w/stock 4 runner coils. I want ALOT of flex and 3 link would give me what I am after.Currently the truck is a street beater and has 33x9.50's cranked torsions in the front and 1" blocks in the rear.I am not looking for any lift from what i have now,I just want to build a system that will work and throw away the stock junk.Does anyone have any helpfull info? Thanks Steve :smokin: :p

Can't help on the 3 link, but you said you want full width chevy. I am in the process of doing this on my '82 and did a bunch or research I decided to use chevy front end (dana 44), but a ford rear end. If a chevy rear end breaks an axle, since it is held in by C-clips, the axle will come out and leave you stranded. If a ford axle breaks you can still drive, axle held by flanges on the outside. Just an idea.

My buddy had a '90 4Runner that he kept the rear coils in. He replaced the stock shitty coils with ones out of a FJ80. They gave him about 3" of lift and worked awesome. His shocks were too short and the track bar gave him some trouble. He got some 14" travel shocks and ditched the track bar. The results were great. Without the track bar the truck wag its tail a little over speed bumps but it would stuff a 33 so far into the rear fenderwells even with a 3" body lift that it would stop the truck and stall the motor. That was with the stock stubby links. I know that wasn't exactly what you asked but those FJ80 coils are sweet. Good luck

Thanks for the reply. I have already bought my axles (dana44 front and 12 bolt rear) I think I will stick with what I bought and get that kit to remove the c-clip as you mentioned. From what I have read that c-clip set up is the only draw back to the 12 bolt. Plus I wanted to stick with a 6 lug axle, doing that will save me 4 or 5 bills in buying wheels. If you come across any info on the coils or 3 link please let me know Thanks alot Steve:smokin:
