Ok me and my brother are ready and have the money to buy a welder next week we are thinking of the millermatic 175. It has the best reviews and looks like a great all around welder for home shop work. we will be doing a swap on my truck and makeing a few bumpers exo and other stuff for our trucks. I was wondering where is the best place to buy one. Im here in Arburn we are going to go check out some welding shops in sac today. but i found a few websits that look like a great deal. What do you guys think about these one? Have you used any of these site for your welding supplies and if so what did you get? Any input you guys may have will be great thanks a lot.

I picked up a MM175 from Cyberweld 2 or 3 years ago, free shipping and I got it the next day since they are actually in Linden NJ.
But if I was to do it again, print out the price and take it to the local places and see what they will do. You'll be going there for the consumables anyway, so they might be close enough in $$ to make it worthwile.

Search "millermatic 175" on EBAY. There is a guy there selling them for 685.00 shipped to your door. That is where I will probabbly get mine.

i got mine for 580 - shipped and with a free cart (that got weak fast but was great at first) at weldmart.com
not sure of prices now though that was back in 02
my first 6 mothst with it was very light duty - worked fine (also my first welder of anykind)
then it worked as a meduim duty welder at 2 shops I worked at and m,ostly a backup cause we had bigger ones
occasionally it was a main welder in heavy use shop..for up to two weeks at a time.
now it is a backup/light steel welder at my shop....
I have kept an eye on it and maintained it very well
but I have had some peoblems with it
the drive needed adjusted
the spool spindle needed a different nut/spring because the stock one I couldn't adjust very well and it would hang up OR free spool and tangle..
the tip holder (part teh tips screw into) got loose and stripped.
the liner wore out and it welded like shit.
replaced all those thuings and it worked like new
Now the whole gun needs replaced.
it only welds nice when I zip tie the torch a certian way.
I have ran almost 80 spools of wire (acctually 77 is what is marked on the lid) through this welder which I think is ALOT for this level of welder.
I would totally recomend that you get a miller 175
It is the BEST small welder you can get
I love my 251 though

When I got my Plasma no one around here would pricematch it... We are talking $200-$250 difference they wouldn't even budge. Called everyone I found in phonebook in weld area too... I guess welders are different.
