Ok jokes on me.
I just installed a 2f and I'm still not bright enough to figure out how to clip the light filaments in for the headlights on a '74 fj40. Any help before I continue to scare the neighborhood kids with my swearing?
Thanks...

you might already know this, but it sounds like maybe you dont:confused: that the entire headlight has to be replaced on FJ40's, not just the bulb like you can do on late model vehicles...

It may surprise you what I don't know...
Let me describe the system from front to back: concave lens system screwed into the front clip in three places, 2 small clips on either side of a circular metalic bezel that has a moveable piece at the bottom all of which is pressed on to the rear of the reflector, a seperate light filament with three tabs on the outside of its base, a rubber boot to enclose the rear of the bulb and bezel, and finaly the three pronged connector. I can't seem to get the bulbs securely fastened to the bezel. I accidently pulled them out when I was trying to pull off the connection.
Thanks...

Sounds like Rodeo's light is an H4 that has replaceable bulbs instead of a sealed beam. There are three tabs that are on the metal base on bulb. I'm not talking about the plug, just the round flat metal base. They're not evenly spaced to make sure you don't screw it in upside down. Look at the back of the headlight and see where the holes go.

Sounds like you're describing it, but I'm just not seeing any place for those three tabs. There are also two tiny tabs at the bottom of the bulb.
Thanks for the help.

On my HELLAs the big tab points straight up and a double spring wire clip holds the bulb in place! email if problems still persist.
Good Luck!

Mike, thanks. You solved it for me. Instead of trying to clip the lights into the bezel, I only needed to rotate the two clips inboard to hold the light in place. Thanks dude.
