Just picked up a #6 plate for the 12v. Normally I wouldn't take pictures, but I got this on Ebay from "machineshopcharlie". I wanted to post the pictures so everyone could get a an idea of the quality etc and make a decision. Cost was $113 shipped. The guy is real cool to deal with too.

Install took alittle less than an hour and a half. Super simple. If I had to do it again, I could prolly do it in less than an hour.

First test drive-

The difference is un-frickin-believeable...pulls like a train. Smokes nicely now too, good black puff at take off and a nice haze under moderate throttle.

Although, I now know that my 4.10 gears and stock governer springs are crippling my truck. As it is now, at 75mph, I'm turning 2300-2400 rpm. Governed at 2,500 IIRC. Top speed of 80mph on flat ground. If I had 3.55's and a 3/4k GSK set, it would be sooo much better. The GSK set will be next. Unfortuneatley, I'm prolly gonna have to stop with the bombing after that, as I don't want to be forced into buying a new tranny.

There's a couple guys on Ebay selling these things, I just didn't get any good juju from the other guys at all. If you're thinkin of an Ebay plate, be sure you're lookin at the ones from "machineshopcharlie".:smokin:

What other mods do you have on your truck? I'm not on TDR anymore and never really followed all the must-do mods for the 12V, so I don't really understand it all. My stock 96 could do with a little more pull.

I would look at a #10 or #11 torque plate. Lower number = more HP. I think #10 will give you something like 300HP to the rear wheels. I would not go too much on power unless you want to to modify the auto tranny which is expensive.

My truck isn't modified much...yet. Just the plate, boost fitting, straight pipe and BHAF. I'll prolly grab a 3 or 4k GSK set and call it quits till I can afford to upgrade the tranny. After that, the skys the limit- new injectors, delvery valves, a #100 plate, AFC spring kit, timing changes, bigger turbo etc.:smokin:
