I removed my locking hub in process of rebuilding the knuckle. There are 6 nuts (if I remember right) that I removed and then after the snap ring the locking hub slid off. There are two pins that sit between the 6 bolt studs. On one side one of the pins is broken! What do I do? Can it be replaced? Does it need to be replaced with 6 nuts and 1 in pin remaining??

Let me know - Thanks,

Greg

If it is the one that is in the locking part of the hub it is just a roll pin and can be purchased at any hardware store, they allow the outter part to smoothly float in and out when you lock and un lock your front axles!
Good Luck!

No, it is a pin that is in the rotor body that the locking hub bolts to. There are two per side and they sit between the studs that the locking hub bolts to.

oakley,

The pin is like a dowel. They can be removed but they're sometimes are stuck in there real good. On my drum brake hubs, these things could be grasped with a pair of pliers and they came out. OTOH, I heard of a guy with an HZJ75 in CO (Jeff Z.) that had a heck of a time removing a broken one. I believe it's hardened steel only on the surface. So if yours is already broken, maybe it can be ground flat, centerpunched, drilled and removed with an extractor. Good luck,

Dave

BTW, these pins are the same for the drum brake hubs and the disk brake ones. So get one from someone's drum brake parts when he's throwing his away. A new one is available from the dealer (part no. 90250-07057)

Yes it can be replaced! drill out the remaining piece...Measure the diameter of the good pin, go to the hardware store and get a steel dowel rod, cut to size, chamfer the outer edge, drive into place...You done!:skull:

thanks for correcting me :flipoff2:

jk--the reason i thought they couldnt be replaced was because mine look like they were cast as part of the hub.

oh well
