Denpending on the app. you can also take a torch, heat up the bolt, then melt some parrafin(candle wax) on it. As it cools it will pull the melted wax into the treads and lube them up. Works very nice. (almost all the time) Cheap too!! :D

PB Blaster works good if you have time to let it penetrate. I've also used parafin on some axle housing studs that refused to come out. PB Blaster didn't work right away, heat didn't help, then applied some parafin to the studs and they broke free and came out easily.

I use Kano Kroil... it is the best.

Try this...

1 Soak it in Kroil for a day or more.
2 Give the head of the bolt a few taps with a hammer (don't
bash it like a caveman).
3 Try to remove it.
4 If no-go then heat it with a torch to a dark dim red.
5 Tap it lightly with a hammer.
6 Once it's cooled down a little try to remove it again.

be patient, it is much less of a hassle to take your time and get it out than to break it off and try to drill & tap it.

If you break it use a drive in type screw extractor... the one with the tapered square end and little biting edges... the twist in style screw extractors suck with bolts 5/16 or M8 thread and smaller.

Good luck

PB Blaster always seems to work VERY well for me. I have never heard of that candle wax thing. I will have to try that. Could get messy if you are working over your head though. Some people are into hot wax though...but, uhhh....not me;)

I have never found anything that was diffficut enough to use PB Blaster that wasnt easy enough to use a more aggresive method.

I just am not a big believer in that shit. Nor do I ever have a day or two to fawk around with somehting.

My methods are...

1. piss, vinegar, shouting, that sort of thign
2. impact wrench
3. hammer on wrench
4. breaker bar (jack handle)
5. air hammer
6. tourch

If that dont work I finish off go to step 7. PLASMA TOURCH

I aint found NOTHIN that dont come off with that yet...

O.K. I have heard alot about stuff like PB Blaster and stuff, but this is my experience. I have worked in auto shops for almost 20 years from Wisconsin to Arizona. One thing they have all had in common is that the techs insist on having WD40 in the shop. Its all I have ever needed to use.

(other than an air hammer and a torch, of course!)

I got some stuff called Cinch, and that stuff does real well. I got it at a specialty tool place, and I've never seen it anywhere else. Real nice stuff, it does not evaporate like some and seems to work real good here in the salt belt :D

Otherwise, I've always had good luck with plain ol' WD-40 as well

im sick of getting pissed, and Ive got a nice scar through my eyebrow from a socket wrench, so i dont usually fawk around with rusty bolts. I soak em in pb blast, let em sit, hit em with the impact wrench, if that doesnt work, i heat them with a propane plumbers torch, hit them with the impact and 9 times out of ten they drop right out. For us poor people without plasma clutters, a sawzall works great for that one time out of 10 the torch fails.
