Did the rest of you Calif people, who have built a shop,
have to comply with this crap for a simple 24'x40' metal building ?
And what did you have to show on the plans as far as lighting ?

Title 24 is awesome!
I've got about 400 pages of title 24 in my work truck to make sure I'm legit on everything. Garages need to be fluorescent (high efficacy) so your covered with some normal strip lights. Your bathroom if you have one would probably end up with a automatic on/off occupancy sensor with no manual control.
I'm working on an 8000 square foot house right now that was "built" in 2000 but sat unfinished till this year and now I have to bring it up to title 24 standards, been there for 2 months now :shaking:
This should help you:

Check out the garages section.
As far as plans, I don't think I've ever noticed anything on residential plans specifically calling out high efficacy lighting or controls... But if it's being inspected I know it has to comply with T24 so thats what gets done. Funny part is, 90% of new homeowners will remove all the ugly ass fluor. lights we put everywhere and replace with normal incandescent stuff as soon as final inspection is over so the only thing it does is cost the home owner more money...

I have seen that page ... I guess there are even tougher conditions as of Oct 06.
Building and safety here in Simi doesn't even know what they are looking for.
Lady at the counter won't take the plans etc. without the "check mark in the box"
