You don't need rockwells, why dont you use a d60/14b combo?

No matter which axles you use leaf springs would be the easist and cheapest IMO-M

i am dealing with a early eighties late seventies f-150 pickupSo which is it? Late 70's or early 80's? They changed in 80'.

i am looking to put in rockwells and have little concern for wieght what would be best to install for cheap suspension and a differentialI won't try and talk you out of Rockwells if that's what you want. But beware that if you put rocks under either year of truck you mentioned, you'll either have to heavily modify the existing front cross member or go with huge amounts of lift in order to clear the top loader diff. My vote would be to modify the x-member to keep height down. Try a search here in the Ford forum (I think it's in this forum anyways...maybe Gen) there is a guy who is currectly doing an F-150 build with Rockwells.

I agree with MESH, leafs would be the cheapest and easiest to set up.
