look at the specs of the TH400 and the Dana 300. How would you modify them to be the same spline count. I am looking at a swaping a dana20 out for a 300.

Thanks

A/A makes different inputshafts for the D300..They make them in 10-27-32 and 35 spline.. I think you have to but the full adapter kit though..

No, you don't need an AA adapter. Just find a TH400 - NP208 adapter. (Essentially Offroad in TN has one for sale right now for $25, I think.) Only one hole needs to be redrilled to make the d300 fit. Then all you need is an adapter spud shaft from AA or Novak. Novak's run ~$200. The cool part is that, suppossedly, you can even clock the d330 up using the NP208 adapter.

he's right. i have a th400 in my jeep with a stock 208 adapter. all i needed to run my d300 was a 32 spline input shaft from aa. they are easy to swap on the d300. cool thing is if you want to go to an atlas all you need to do is order one with a 32spline input. that is what i did :D

The th 400 - 208 is a tranny and case combo. The adapter connects the 2 together. I dont know what years and models they were offered but it should be easy to find one in a junk yard. :flipoff2:

Year, make and model is really what I need. I am assuming that it is a chevy setup, but I have no idea what year/model it came on.

I think we have all dealt with this situation....customer walks into parts house and says "I need a starter for a chevy 350." guy behind the counter says "what year?" customer doesn't really know, but makes something up to make this as painless as possible and says "74." guy says "what kind of car?" customer feels himself falling into a pit as he says "well it's in a jeep, but I think it was originally out of a camaro." guy behind the counter, dumbfounded and doubting of the customers knowledge of his own vehicle pokes at the computer for about 25 minutes than says, with a cochy voice, "350 wasn't an option in a 74 jeep." customer really annoyed says "The jeep is an 85, the motor is a 74! I just need a starter for a 74 camaro with a 350 in it!" guy goes back to poking at the computer, calls over the manager, who has to call the regional office, who says this is a "special order" part and will take 3 weeks to get.....oh and the price will be $147.50. customer now furious, and quite confident that there are probably 30 sb chevy starters back there somewhere wants to bum rush the counter but gives up and walks out.

ok, now picturing asking for a TH400 to NP208 adapter without knowing what year, make model or anything else for that matter. I like to do it from time to time just to keep those guys on there toes, but when I am not sure how to identify whatever it is I am supposed to be getting it makes me a little nervous. At least it's a junkyard part and you can talk to someone who has at least seen a transmission out of a car before.

Start out looking at 88 and newer chevy trucks. Suburbans for sure were avaliable with that combo.
