What does everyone think of using a Nissan Patrol as the basis for a wheeler? I found one for 600 bones that runs. I will put an sbc350 sm465 d44 corp 14 in its place but are they good sturdy rigs? I know they never made them here but it would add to the character of the rig. Any and all opinions are welcome. :flipoff2:

Go for it... They wheel the hell out of them down under... and besides, no one else will have one!

Have fun with your new project!

Dude, seriously, if you don't buy it, PLEASE let me know and I will buy it. The older patrols are sweet as hell. Drivetrain isn't very good, but it's easy to replace it all with stronger stuff. Remember, if you don't buy it, let me know and I WILL!!

Definitly. Is it running? Or is it pretty much just a body and frame? I'd like a project... The Pathfinder is about at the extent of my help without serious cutting up.... And it's my DD right now..

That seems to be a good deal for something pre emissions and cool. Don't get it if you think you'll find parts in the US like you can on the FJ's.

Intresting choice of vehicles. This is mine and next on the buildup list. It is also a 63. By the way, Nissan used a 6 cylinder as the stock engine. It is the same engine, parts and all, as a Chevy 6 cyl of the same year. The axles are dangerous. Replace them first and then do the rest.

My thoughts exactly. Wouldn't want to ride back there, above the cage and all.

I miss the HELL out of mine. I wheeled the crap out of it, and kept on going. I had a 69 L60 Patrol, with the 3956cc L6. My axles had the 4.68s, and were beefy. I upgraded the master cylinder with that of an 80 280zx. I also replaced the springpacks with a combo of leaves, extended shackles, and BFG 33-12.50s.
If I could place a pic of it, I would, but I'm not set up for that.

Build it and KEEP it. They are rare birds.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that there were only @2000 of them imported to the U.S. :D

HEY! That Patrol was in my backyard for about 2 months while the guy who bought it (not too bright, 'bout as sharp as a spoon), blew up the welded rear end on the way over to my place. I got to have the fun of installing the new Ford 9" third member. Woo hoo... That guy still doesn't know how to drive it... Says the gas is touchy. I drove it. No problems at all. This guy doesn't know how to drive anything... I mean, how hard is it to drive an Automatic?!?!? I give the new ford 9" no more than 3 months under his foot.

RHINO, was that your old Patrol? What was the deal with that Ford 9"? The ring and pinion were HORRIBLY put together!

Go for it! They are way cool! I saw this guy on the con about 10 years ago and haven't seen another one since.
