So has anyone done this? What are my optinos when ti comes down to it? I guess I Can build it with heims at the ends, but I would rather use ball ends instead. What ends fit in there? What is the thread and the pitch on the ends?

Thanks
dimtiri

It's pretty simple, really. If you want to have a manly steering setup, do something like this:

http://www.djgaston.com/images/thuren7.jpg

1.5" HREW, 3/4" heims and grade 8 bolts, then just drill out the knuckles and pitman arm to 3/4" and bolt the crap up. You'll need a few bends in the tie rod to clear the diff cover, and you'll need to bend the drag link so that it does not contact your sway bar mount.
Heims are fine, they work great on and off the road. I'm running a similar setup on my tow rig with no stabilizer and it drives fine, very firm. No slop at all and that is what I like.
Don Thuren at Thuren Fabrication makes the steering kit if you just want to hit him up and order one. http://www.thurenfabrication.com :cool2:

Hey Danny, do you kow Don? I have been waiting for almost a month for a trackbar for my rig! He was in contact with me at the begining but now he hasn't answered my emails. I knew I should have just built one. :(

I know he has been swamped lately, but I also know he is a good guy. He really needs somebody helping him so that he can concentrate on making the parts and not having to do all of the other menial tasks. He just does this in his spare time so that is why sometimes it takes him a while to make stuff and send it out. He does not get online much at all, so you might want to call him. 805.886.9250 Let me know if I can help.

I did the converision to T-style about a year ago, I still havent found a steering stab kit for it, I guess I should look harder but drives fine without it. I have the parts list at work if you want it.

If you are looking for something real easy, and good-to-go... just go with the 98-99 2500HD steering. Bolts right in, and works wonderfully. I am a proponent :D
