I have a c6 tranny from a 85 big bronco. My 69 EB has a c4. what are the benefits of swapping? What do I need to do to my 302 to make it fit, or will it fit with no probs?

shouldnt have to do anything they both have the small block bolt pattern. benifits of the swap are the strength of the c6, the bad part is it is longer

the other benefit is that there is a factory C6-205 adapter.

I don't know this for the truth, only been told, but I think you need at least a body lift, or some serious floor pan work. Pro, you get rid of the Dana 20, no more breaking output shafts. Con, no deep gears for the 205, only a doubler.

Well, I have a C-6 behind a 460 in my FU50 pushin 38.5 Swampers and it has held up so far. I beat the living piss out of it on a regular basis and it's about a year old since a rebuild. It's also my daily driver. I wouldn't expect more than 2 years out of a tranny the way i treat it but so far no troubles.

Pro of a c6..stronger than a C4 for folks with big motors. You can build a C4 to take a lot of motor though. Cons of a C6 are size, lost of gear ratio in the tcase, big weight penalty, and major loss of horsepower (it eats up a LOT more hp than the C4).

C6 you can swap in a lower 1st and 2nd plant sets if you search around the junkyards. You won't hurt it. Yes they are longer, 3".
