Ive got an 85 K10 and I cant figure out whats wrong with my gas tank. I flip the switch to left tank and the gas comes from the left tank, I flip the switch to the right tank and no gas is pulled, I was wondering how i could test the ohms to the fuel switch relay and at the tank and what should it read? Also is there anywmore solenoids or relays between the tank and the actual switch itself? thanks

Odds are there is no relay.. I had that set up in my 77.
The switch when you go to the left tank sends power to the valve under the truck. When you go the right tank power is cut to it, and an internal spring pulls the valve to the right tank.
Check your hoses and make sure that you don't have a cracked lines. that will make it not pull gas. Also have some one work the switch while your under the truck and listen to see if you can hear it clicking when they go back and forth with the switch.
you might just need a new unit. Not sure about your year, but if it is like the older ones stay with the dealer units or get one from the junk yard.
The after market ones are different and kind of confusing to hook up. (they use less lines on them)

I had the same problem on my 82 i went through the trouble of dropping the right tank and replacing the sending unit in the tank. it solved the switchin issue works perfect now my only problem now is the gauge doesn't work. on either tank. It has a mind of its own. It also is like they say the switching valve unit under the truck. That was my next purchase. but now i just use the odometer for my full- empty readings

if its the same the selection valve is on the inside of the frame beside the right tank. black cylinder with a bunch of fuel lines coming in and out. mine priced at about 85 to 90 bucks and they told me it was a dealer item. goodluck. make sure you mark your lines before removal. like I said if its the same my truck is an 82 k10
