: Manual Trans & Case help please
SJ410Bark 02-02-2006, 12:31 AM I have a 74 Scout 2, that I am getting ready to swap out the Auto, for a manual. I haven't seen the trans/Tcase yet, but I know it is out of a 76. As I was unable to find the info I needed elsewhere, I thought i would try here. My Question is : What Transmissions/Tcase combos came in the 76 model?? I want to start looking for high angle parts, and having an idea of what I need to find parts for a specific model would help tons.
thanks in advance
binderbart 02-02-2006, 06:37 AM need more info:shaking: is it a 3 speed or 4 speed, is the transfer case equipped with hi-low range or just high range. if the donor tranny is a four speed it could be one of two options, close or wide ratio. chances are the transfer case is a dana 20 which would have a high and low range. grab the drive shafts too, you'll probably need them and also the crossmember and tranny mount.
do a search on here and also the binderbulletin. you should find all the info you need by searching.

like I said in the opening post, I haven't seen it. It is in Iowa, I am here in Cali. I am picking it up this summer when I go on Vacation. I was told it was a 4sp. today. That's all the info I have. I was hoping to get ideas of what I could have from this board, to narrow my search.
thanks IHC-6
I was hoping for something like that

What are you doing?? Is this a stock Scout or a heavily modified Scout?? What "high angle" parts are you looking for needing??
This info would help us very much help you.
The t-case behind the stick is 99% the same as the t-case behind your current auto, so you can use all the specs off it to apply to the "new" t-case. The only real differance is that the auto tranny pan takes up much more room around the front output than the manual. And one of them is slightly farther back than the other (off the top of my head I can't remember which one is farther back, I want to say the auto, but only like .5-1", not a huge differance).
What info do you really need?? I hope you got this thing super cheap without even finding out what tranny it is. Just because it "came out of" a '76 doesn't necessarily mean its the original tranny and not something that someone swaped in years ago.
o-well. Is this your first IH?? From a quick history look you haven't visited the IH section in atleast the last year... looks like you spend most of your time in the classifides and Chit-Chat... And the Zuk section.
RockBilly 02-02-2006, 08:09 PM You will need a clutch pedal too. Along with the flywheel, clutch plate, pressure plate, throughout bearing. Verify that your frame has the clutch pivot ball. And buy plenty of
SJ410Bark 02-02-2006, 11:37 PM got a rusted out parts scout........ everything is there, like I said, I have just yet to see it. apparently the body is crap... but good running gear. I have a SOAC on 4" springs set-up on my current 74 Scout 2. I am gonna have pix taken soon, so I will be able to ID it then..... like I said before, I was hoping to narrow down the possible set ups it may have, so I would know what I may be able to find for it. Yea, my main focus here is the classified section, and Zuks.. and yes, this 74 is my first International..... so I don't have a vast knowledge of what parts they have.... I got the info I needed, thanks to all those who replied

makkat 02-03-2006, 08:46 PM What part of Iowa is it in? I live near Des Moines and would be more than happy to check it and help identify what you are getting if it is close. Send me a PM if you want.
