: Nose dive during braking

Guy's I just got done putting Alcan's on my vehicle and have Trailmaster SSV shocks on my front end of my Cruiser and realize this is one of the results of a flexy suspension but would alternate shocks help like Ranch 9000's( I don't like them) or some other stiffer shock should minimize this as a slow speed she dives down...real deep!

Check the master. It really should not dive at all...

why shouldnt it? its soft..just like any car...when you stop the wheels and axles (hit the brakes) the body is still goin forward. so it will dive if its tall and soft. mine does that too. soa and s/r. i have 9000s up front and it helps a lot...but whenh i first test drove it w/o shocks it did it real bad! kinda fun like a roller coaster ride...lol:rasta:

Might go the 9000's as it is adjustable...don't really like them. Mine dive's at slow speed and yes its flexy and SOA....it does make sense and the brakes work fine....this is all since I changed the springs....went from OME to Alcan's....

When you first step on the brakes the rear get engaged first. Which starts to slow you down. then the front get engaged and really slow you down. If the rear brakes are not working all that well the only main braking you will have is the rear brakes. My cruiser on 38.5's SO flipped stock springs with 2 leaves pulled out does not dive in the front much at all.

This is at slow speeds..less then 5 miles per hour will take it on a full speed run very soon but I think my shocks are shot....SSV should have some pressure to them.....and yes my rear's work fine and have rancho's 5000's on them.....

this is one of many reasons cruisers had the shackles in front, it does produce more dive with the shackles behind and soft springs and soft shocks and more height and short w/b, but if it seems way excessive, you might want to stiffen it up, maybe with shocks, but what jason said is valid, if your rear brakes are not doing there job, for whatever reason, the fronts can cause a nosedive just because they are working so hard. check the brakes first, its free.

The brakes play little affect at very slow speed wouldn't you agree? I can jump on the suspension and it cycle's fine....and have adjusted the brakes but might try it again, since its free but I don't see how this could be so drawn out at slow speeds....going above 20 mph I can understand and the only thing I've changed is the springs and length/shackle angle....will try something.....

why would you think slow speeds would be any less?? the cruiser doesnt get lighter the slower it goes. think about this, at speed you are light on the pedal at first to slow down, unless in panic mode, then the last little bit you push the pedal harder for the final stop, right?? well at slow speed you are right into the pedal to stop, usually, any way it doesnt really matter. i have some dive but i kinda like it, but again i also like massive body roll.:D

Rhino....following simple physics force = mass times acceleration, I can't do anything about my weight as its constant but as I build speed it should change the force or momentum going forward... I understand the braking system as their is a spring between the front controller and the rear.. . and understand your point about braking and the amount of force applied to the pedal as its relative to stopping.....I guess I need to test it out at speed to understand all what's happening....well that and see if anyone has any used 9012's.....rhino what are you running upfront???
