I am going to be doing the SYE and CV driveshaft on my 95 YJ pretty soon. But I don't know what angle I need to have my rear pinion at. Anyone know? I was thinking 6 degrees but I am not sure.

what rear axle do you run ? If you run a stock Dana 35 you may need a 10 to 12 degree shim to point the pinion towards the transfer case.

I got the stock dana 35. 10 to 12 huh I think I may go with an 11 degree one then.

You need whatever it takes to point the pinoin @ the t/c.

 dont put it straight at the t/c. Drop it down to 3*.

What do you mean by this?

Actually, you want to line it up with the driveshaft, then drop it 2 - 3 degrees. The joint should be running @ a small angle & this also allows for some rise of the pinion when under power.
With the extra length of the CV joiunt, compared to a standard joint, this will probably work out about the same as pointing it at the t/c output.
The right way to do it is not to guess what you need - forget the shims. Cut the perches loose. Get new ones if yours are in bad shape. Bolt eveything up just loose enough that you can rotate the axle (useing a jack under the pinion) until you get the angle right. Tighten down the u-bolts & remve the jack. Make sure it didn't move. Weld the perches. You can get an angle finder from sears for about $10.

this assumes that I know how to weld. I like the idea but if I knew how to weld my car would be SOA.
Can I use the angle finder from sears to find the right angle with out having to cut the perches off?

so your car would be SOA, and you'd leave your jeep SUA??? HMM thats interesting.. by the way... ITS NOT A CAR!

Cj Jeepers got it right. Screw the shims. Do it 1 time and do it right.

I'm running 6* with a 4" SUA lift. It's probably about 1* shallow but the shims were convenient and I don't have any vibes. I am not done with my driveline angle so I have not rewelded my pads yet. I'll do it after the mm lift, raised skid and buggy springs.

have the same lift here (RE 4.5) and I ran 12 degree shims with no vibes with Dana 35 untill i upgraded to Dana 44. shims suck! they screwed up with ubolts and my axle was creaking going over every bump.
