In any case i just spent the last week searching for anything and every thing on coil suspension and heres what i learned. Every one seems to have some serious personal problems or atleast thats what it seems. Is it posible to create a FAQ on coil suspension i mean it seams more and more are doin it and out of the 500 threads that i read i think maybe 25 of them were useful so how about compileing it in one thread that we can all use more easly. I hope that who ever reads this is willing to acnolige this and will help in this please i mean theres tons of threads started by newbs on this question and they all get flamed so could we start a FAQ on things like junk yard springs, spring rate of different springs, link material, link ends, link designs, build up threads and other various stuff like this now i do have my flame suit on but please give it a thought thanx now i'm gonna go have a

as for searching man can u read i just said that i spent the last week searchin. The piont is is that theres a FAQ on dana axles, toyota axles and a general suzuki FAQ so why not a coil suspension faq. Who is the person who decides on what to make a FAQ section on. As for a dumb canadian shut your trap u dumd biotch i live in the land of the free and thats a hell of alot more then u can say. As for the thread its a thought and one that states a good point in my opinion so say what u willl but use your damned brain thats what its for and as for insults it just shows how big your brain is. This is a BBS thats were you find info on things this is not a chat room right theres a general chit chat section for that is there not. Sorry for the anal retentivness but i just dont under stand why when a piont is made so many of you guys flame it. And as for a newb ya to the board maybe but as a mechanic i got my years in so please tell me what makes me a newb on that i mean i can weld i can twist wrench and i can improvise the damned thing to make it run so i wanna know what makes me a newb. Thanx for listenin to my rant in any case.:flipoff2:

I like that avatar too. The cat has it coming.

But for the rest... sheesh, Man! They pullin' yer strings! That's what they want you to do. Be all like sweetness and light and they go "Aaaarrrrg! I'm outta here!". See, they kain't handle that!

Here's the deal, see.. there is a kind of person, a chump really, who "leads a life of quiet desperation" (Thoreau). They are all like un-empowered, see? Now, I'm not gonna say it is the two fellas who piped up, see, I doan know that at all. I'm speakin' in general terms here only. But these chump-guys.. they go to work, get in there late cuz they a got a mechanical on the clapped-out beater they drive, and the boss is on them all day. They are all fatigued, see, and go home, sweet home, wants to watch a lil tube, have a brew, relax. But the ole lady, she gets on em. Alla time, all evening. The poor chump goes to bed, didn't even get to hear the monologue cuz the ole lady's program is on. He dreams, sweet dreams... frustrated, aching dreams of longing and unfulfilled need. Now I'm not gonna call it a 'wet dream', no sir. I'm just talkin' about a man's dreams here. Every man needs a lil acceptance, a lil encouragement. Maybe some affection once inna while. But even the sweet lady in his dreams shuts him down. It's a cold shot. He can't make time in his own dream.

So sometimes, and I'm still speakin' in general terms here.. sometimes these guys come in here and wanna be STRONG for a change. They wanna be The Man. They see a hint of weakness. Maybe it was civility, maybe it was respect, what do they know, huh? So they attack like sharks, see?

But what do I know?

actually the question i was in need of i got the day i posted this damn thread. But its the fact that there's lots of newbs out there that are always askin questions on this. And when i'm lookin for somthin all i get are there posts with every ones damned flames on it and they just clutter the board up makin it damn near impossible to get the info needed. As for canada better then the states part votes stil out so i aint gonna say to much. As i am a dual citizen of canada and the states i will say this at least u aint payin 10$ for a pack of smokes. GoeB thank u at least u can interpret what other small minds can't :flipoff2: NC Zuk man i've been reading all bout your rig and well damn well done. and flexysammi is your head up your ass for the warmth the piont is if you guys bitch at newbs for askin questions that waste your time why are you wasting all the rest of our time buy flamin the hell out of them and when we go look at the thread thinkin the 19 posts are gonna help us it turns into a pile of BS. Now this is still my personal opinion but tell me how to start a FAQ and i wil do it if no one else willjust call it ( If ya wanna know somthin bout coil suspension read this and shut the F*** up ) well theres my 0.02 $ thanx to thoughs who where civil to me and to those who were not :flipoff2:

Your flame suit is not very fire proof. What makes a newbie a newbie is *how* they post, and how they deal with bashers.

If they respond with semi-intelligent and level headed explanations as to their thread information requirements, they will get far better responses.

If they retort with: "Oh, ya? u suxxors im not a nueby evry 1 here is wastin my time and u all r haters...etc., etc."

Doesn't that seem like kind will reply in kind?

If you think this is such a good idea, then you work on it for awhile. Think about it and post up with ideas, maybe a rough template as to how the various facts could be arranged and so on.

Scope out how other sections have done their FAQS.

Just posting: "someone should do this", and "someone should do that" and getting all bent out of shape so easily will get you nowhere, fast.

How you ask the questions is more than half the battle. The harder to answer, the less likely the reply, and insults will make it go in the opposite direction, making no one ever take you seriously.

Rough dimensions that people have used to calculate link seperation and how they arrived at them, brands of vehicles with good springs to use, best model years, types of materials to make links out of and thoughts on tubing wall thickness, ball park antisquat figures...

Any questions with straight forward replies being able to answer them, should be used.

Point form. Not a rambling, endless sentence with no paragraph breaks in 500 words.

All this would have to be hashed out first, over maybe a few threads (like this one IMHO) so that they didn't clutter up the FAQ with a million debates or questions instead of facts and figures.

I think it would be a great FAQ to have, eventually.

The spring in my pen (Bic) would lower a samurai by about 2" and have an ideal spring rate.

Like its been said, use search, theres lots of stuff on here.
See (I think its called) god of suspension thread.
As far as parts used, go for the best steel you can afford. If you go cheap on materials, at least make it thick walled.
As far as joints, what you gonna be using it for? Mine is my DD, and Ive used polybushes all round.(from a landrover cos theyre easy to obtain over here)
I guess you could probably get Jeep/Gm parts easy and cheap.
Ive used front springs from a Cherokee Diesel all round. They were the right price, I can get longer ones if I need to, and they are nice and compact. They give a good ride on my Diesel, Exo'd Sammy.

For my 2 cents worth, I say look around you, see what is readily available so you can easil replace it when its broke, make sure its way stronger than it really needs to be, and get planning/experimenting.
Take a good look at as many coiled sammies as you can, and copy what works. Dont copy what doesnt work............

thanx rollazoki as for searching if ya read the top post by me u would have seen i have searched a lot. As for my build up I'm using evolution machine shop joints and 2.25X0.5 wall dom and ranger coils in the front and cherokee coils rear. The piont of this thread was to see if we ( I ) could get a FAQ started on this speciefic thing most all my questions i have figured out its for all thoughs other newbs that keep askin.
