i just got a pair of second hand sj springs from a fellow pirate BB member and was wondering if any body knew if there was a front and back to each spring. The rear springs has a clamp on one side, should that go in front or back of the axle? cause right now the springs are sitting 2 inchs from the front part of the fender and 5 inchs from the rear.

I have owned 3 sets of Skyjacker springs 4" and 2" and they all had clamps on both ends, the fronts have a more of a slight bend towards one of the eyes that goes to the rear of the truck and the rears i think the longer end goes towards the front.

Unless you have a body lift, you'll hit. I garrentee

33 MT/R's are a true 33"s (new), and 33's and a 4" lift rub.

Trim to fit :D, its the PBB way :flipoff2:

other than that, measure the center pin location and place them aproperately.

Tydes,

I take it the springs arrived. The rear springs do not have a front and rear. The front springs do. As Terra-Izer stated if you look at the front springs there will a slight bend near one spring eye, that mounts rear. Also I'd suggest longer front shackles, or keep the torsion bar on. When you suddenly unload the front springs they have a tendancy to flip the shackle.

As Rusty, and I said 33's will rub off-road. I ran my 35's for a while, even on a snow run, but I would not run them off-road, with out trimming.

FWIW, *MY* 4" Skyjackers have a front and a rear.

The center pin is offset about 1/2" towards the front.

Even the booklet that came from Skyjacker said there's a front n' back to the rear springs! :)

I could probably go measure after the snow clears.. those POS springs are sitting in my pile of junk parts..

damn,
I got to go measure then, I put the springs on and was wondering why my 31's are still so dangerously close to the fender, (about 2 inches). The other thing is that I know have a bad sag on my drivers side. I think I will have to put a spacer on the left side under the axle to even it out (aka loose a little lift) If my goal was to get 33's on there would you lift with shackels (if so who makes a good shackel with a provision for the sway bar) or body lift (what size? are they a bear to put on?) thanx.

Sawzall. :D

Barring that, a 2" body lift should give you the room for 33s.

Note that with the rear springs installed correctly the tires will be VERY close to the rear of the rocker (front of rear wheel wells) "at-rest".. but when you droop they'll go UNDER it, and when you stuff they'll jam hard into the rear of the wheel well at the back.

That's how it's supposed to work.

If you turn the springs around it'll just rub worse in the back.

I never rubbed the rocker with my 33s, 4" Skyjackers w/ 2" extended shackles.

I always rubbed at the rear edge of the wheel well.. and up front when I would turn and twist.

Did you make the shackels yourself? Is that 2inch extended shackels meaning 1 inch of lift?

At the time, I bought the shackles from Back Country Binders.

2" over stock, for roughly 1" of lift.
