I've been looking at a '79 Chevy truck. I don't have a pic yet, but I'll try to get one later today. Here's what I know about the truck.

It has a freshly rebuilt/bored 350 with an edelbrock intake, carb, and cam. I'm pretty sure that it has aftermarket heads as well. It has longtube headers going into dual flow's that dump before the rear axle. It starts up and idles nicely. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet, but he says that the carb needs some adjusting. New alt, water pump and mechanical fuel pump.

A SM465 or SM420, not sure which one, but it does have a L-1-2-3 pattern. The tranny has a new clutch and is mated to a NP205 T-case.

It appears to have about 6" suspension lift and a 3" body lift. The front was lifted with springs and by moving the front spring perch down a little. The rear was lifted with blocks. If I get it, those will be replaced with a shackle flip, some 63" springs and a longer shackle. D44/10bolt front, not sure which one, but if I buy it, a D60 is going in for sure. 14B rear. Not sure what gears it has, but I'd assume at least 4.56 because the truck has 44's on it.

The truck is currently sitting on 44" ground hawgs. The rear is on 16.5" wheels and the front is on 15's. He is including 2 more 44" hawgs with matching 16.5" wheels because he was planning on putting a D60 under the front.

The body is in pretty rough shape. It has a shortbead, which is what I was mainly looking for in a truck. Holes in the rear quarter pannels just above the lip of the fender. Both rocker pannels and floorboards are rusted out where they meet the rocker. The doors are in fairly decent shape and the windows work. I'm not really concerned about fixing the body, it's not that hard to replace the rockers and floor panels.

As I said above, If I buy it, It's getting a D60, losing the 3"BL, keeping the 44's, getting the crap cut out of the fenders, getting regeared to 5.13 if it isin't already, losing the blocks in the rear and getting a shackle flip. With exception to the front axle, the Tranny/tcase/axle combo looks to be a good one and I'm excited about the manual tranny. I'm also not sure if the stock gauge cluster works, but I plan on going with an aftermarket gauge setup and losing the stockers anyway.

The truck meets my criteria of what I was looking for, having a shortbead, mantrans, 4x4, and a body that only a trucklover could love.

I've got him talked down to $2000. What do you guys think?

If that is what your looking for, then go for it. I think 2 grand is a bit pricy but if the tires were in good shape, probably worth it.
Hard to believe he had a 44 under it with 44's. He must have not really used the truck, which would lead me to believe that it is probably in decent running order. I mean, if he had 44's on a D44 and didnt switch it to a 60 he must not have been doing any wheeling with it and I would assume it was a street queen, even if it was an ugly one lol. May want to get the tranny checked though. If he was running short gears he may have worked the hell out of the tranny.

not a bad setup, it is a 465 tranny. $2000 is a fair price.
