Got done installing my 4BBL carb, intake and HEI ignition (HATED the points even after I finally got them set properly) yesterday and I've run into a little problem as you can see from the picture below.

From what I've thought of I have two options:
Plug off the hose connections in the intake and water pump and wait untill I do a 2" body lift later this summer. Who needs heat in April?:D
Drill another hole in the firewall lower and to the left and route the heater tube there. From what I've seen that is just a tube that runs up from the heater core and could be moved some.
What do you guys think?

I guess the picture may not be clear enough, but I dont see a problem. I would re install the valve and that short rubbber hose then connect up the heater core... You say there is not enough room around the dist cap? Got a better pic?

I also thought of relocating the holes in the firewall for the heater core. I didnt do it because it looked difficult on the back of the heater core. I couldnt get that sharp of a bend if I bent it myself.

I think that you could seal up those holes and drill new ones out further (away from the dist cap. and you could reuse the stock hard pipe.

Yep, its time for the body lift. I have a 2" body lift. Plenty of room around the distributor. It looks like your engine mounts should be lower. The distributor in the picture is an MSD, but it is almost as tall as the HEI was.

A 2 or 3 in body lift definatley will help you there. I always use a 3 in with a mallory Unilite dist. they are small and you can get the motor back farther to give you plenty of room for the radiator. BL it and be done........

Well that settles it. The intake and water pump are going to get pipe plugs untill I do the body lift.

Yea the engine does sit high. The swap was done (half assed that is) by the previous owner. The motor mounts look like the type used in a Land Cruiser swap. Seeing as how it's IFS and there's almost no clearance between the pan and the front axle now I plan on making a noched pan then installing a set of homebuilt motor mounts to lower the engine.
But all of that is gonna have to wait untill I get the thing running a little more reliably seeing as how I only have 'till the end of May before this becomes my daily driver.

BTW will I run into any problems if I don't replace the heater valve? The old one was stuck and mangled beyond belief. I'll have one when I scrap out my 2WD but I've been wondering if I'll really need it or not.

No problems if you like it hot inside the vehicle, which it always will be.
