Well, im swaping a 2.9 in place of my 2.8l, all is going well except the wiring... I am using the 2.8l current in dash/cab/lights/signals/heat/radio harness...

BELOW IS A BLOWN UP SCHEMATIC OF THE 2.8L AND 2.9L
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/1.JPG

BELOW- What the hell is this? It is a part of the under dash harness, and looks like it rests near the pass side undr the dash.
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/2.JPG

BELOW - WHAT A MESS!!! AHHH http://www.therangerstation.com/yabbgold/YaBBImages/smilies/cwm3.gif Seems as though the only wire i have to connect is the ON/RUN power from the ignition wire to the computer and ignition equip.
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/3.JPG

BELOW - These looks like the sensor plugs from the water temp and the oil pressure and the oil level, but where the hell do the plug into??? I have females for em, but none of them match the wiring colors or # of wires.
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/4.JPG

BELOW- Is a 2 wire 3 pin plug, has the same color wires as the fuel tank lines, im thinking its the fuel shut off swich conector. Can i just bi pass this? By wiring the two together?
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/5.JPG

BELOW - These were allong with the computer wiring connection, are they just interior body ground wires?
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/6.JPG

BELOW - 4 wire plug running allong with the computer at the pass side kick. what does it plug into?
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/7.JPG

BELOW - 3 Thick wired plug wired allong with the alt wire assembly What/where does it go???
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/8.JPG

BELOW - These two plugs come out near the large under dash harness connector, what the hell are they???
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/9.JPG

BELOW (FINALLY!) - These two come out allong with the distributer wires... Again where the hell do they plug into?!?!
http://www.towerofyouth.org/UPLOAD/UPLOAD/10.JPG

Can anyone reccomend any shop manuals? Online info? ECT ECT...

I am also swaping out front and rear axles and need to have this byach drivable by the end of april!!!!

ok first off what year donor did you get 89 or newer is what it looks like .

ok go back to the yards and get a wire harness for 86-87 and save yourself the head ache it will be much easier because it will plug in to what you have .

its an easy swap for the most part will take about two hours of wiring if you get the older harness:D

what tranny are you using ?

and you should have went 4.0 or 5.0 the 2.9 is really not that much better then the 2.8 it will tend to stall at the top of a climb
when you need it most :rasta:

He is using a c5 tranny. I think the 2.9 could be fine if there was some decent gearing available. Afterall the toy guys to fine with the 22r and 200+ to 1 gearing.

i ran 456 gears and 32 inch tire with a brand new 2.9, wich had tons more power than the 210,000 mile coolant drinkin pos, but it was guttless to say the least  the fawkin thing wouldnt climb a curb with out stalling :flipoff2:

You NEED the interior harness along with the engine harness to upgrade to a 2.9. There are ALOT of little fuses, controll boxes etc. in that harness that are needed to make your 2.9 run. I know, caus i just replaced my harness two days ago. The engine's harness is only part of the puzzle. And the fuel shut off switch is NOT connected to the computer directly. DO NOT splice any lines coming from the computer.

BTW, why didnt you lable the lines when you yanked the donor wires :flipoff2:

I got the whole setup from a friend at a reasonble price. I was not the one who pulled the setup

I plan on fabricating my own doubler

I was running 33's 4.10's 2.8l and C5 and it ran good, just need a little more torque.

Actually, the d30 held up to anything and everything i pounded into/onto it... Never had any problems, i reccomend it to anyone :) Seriously, its a great simple small/medium truck front axle good for upto 33" tires. :) I was and am very happy with it. I used the stock ranger drivline w/o modification, welded some soa perches and fabricated my own pull push enguage/disenguage system for the vaccume enguge sleve.

Since my my new project involves 36's i plan on running a 44 just to be safe... I bet if i went CTM joints i would have kept the d30, and just upgraded the rear to a 8.8

Now i will be running 2.9l, C5, BW t-case, Douler BW t-case, 4.10's 35 or 36" tires, dana 44, rear toyo 8"...

People say i need to do this, i need to do that, i should do this i should do that, well, above is what i am going to do, and what i want to do. If i wanted the 5.0 the aod, the front and rear FF 60, i would be making 3 to 4 times what i make now. But im not, so back to reality, i like to be different, ride my rig my way, do it my way, build it my way... We all need a little help every once in a while. So i came here to ask about 2.9l EFI wiring :)

 :usa:

If all the rigs were the same, wheeln with a group would be purty boring, seeing the same rigs everywhere.

2nd pic down:
If this goes in the place you say it does, it could be a computer that sits above the glove box and behind the dash (as is in my '90). I can't say for sure since its been a while since I pulled the glove box out and looked up under there. Not sure what it does either.

4th pic down:
My coolant temp sensor plug has TWO snap on connections (opposite each other) that connect to the sensor. From what I can see, yours only has one so I'm guessing thats not what that is. Otherwise, your coolant temp sensor should be at the base of the upper intake (at the front) or the top of the lower in the same general area as the thermostat.

I don't have my truck nearby to look at, otherwise I would. Sorry.

Also, your coolant temp sensor should almost be sitting vertically, if not with a slight lean towards the front of the engine.
