Im currently in the process of building a budbuilt style crossmember and I was just wondering how much higher can I mount the transfer case without stuffing something up.
I dont want to go for a full driveline lift I just want to mount the tranny a little higher.
From what I can see the driveshaft could be angled a little because the front half of the back one gos to the centre bearing and is level anyway. And the front one sits pretty much level because my front diff is IFS (go ahead flame me :flipoff2: ).
So how much is ok ½inch? or can I go a little more?
Thanks.
Paul.

I see you have a 1 1/2" body lift... So I would raise it 1 1/2 inches :D

raise the engine up the same amount. Its pretty easy.

the thing is I dont want to lift the motor because somewhere down the track I plan on fitting a turbo with a top mounted intercooler so I need the extra space between the motor and the hood.
I was just wondering how much I could lift the tranny without changing anything else.
It would in effect tilt the motor and box a little.
just wondering how much is too much:)

I have a 2" body lift and raised my eng and trans 2" too. I had to lower the engine to fit a turbo in there(lack of room on the v6)so now just the tranny is lifted 2". I haven't had any problems and my t-case is about 3/4" from my floor board. So no you don't have to raise the engine and 2" on just the trans isn't to much.

just be careful of the fan hitting the radiator. I ran a 1.5" tranny lift for a while before I installed my engine lift. my fan was really close to the rad and I had to remove the lower part of the fan shrowd (sp:confused: ). my exhaust - custom intall, would also hit my skid plates and other areas until I put the engine lift in. my rig runs 10x quieter now that I have the engine lift in. I'm running Bud's x-member and Roger's engine lift. I haven't check since I put in the engine lift, but my electic fan wouldn't fit w/o the E/L
