I am getting a great deal on an EFI 5.0 what are some good bolt on mods? I was thinking new cam and intake and maybe something to add a little extra fuel. As long as I don't lose much low end I will be happy I had a 4cyl and now have 4.3L so even if its not a low end powerhouse I will be more then happy. i'm looking for strong midrange power.

how much do you want to spend? :)
stock they produce good power an torque and are reliable, but if you want to liven it up, there area a plethora of things to do...
for cam, I'd go with a custom grind - call up comp or Crane and explain what you want to do with the engine and they can grind one for you, or may even have an off-the-shelf that will work well too. For heads, AFR or Trick Flow are the two best- intakes, the Trickflow street heat is a great intake for low end grunt and midrange HP. A 65mm throttle Body may help it breath better, but I wouldn't go bigger than that as it will be hard to control the engine at low rpm. A larger Mass Air Flow sensor should help too - if your going up in injector size, this is a great time to do this mod. A lot of people switch to 24lb/hr injectors, but I would suggest also adding a adjustable fuel pressure gauge with them so you can dial in your fuel pressure for best performance. You can also get a custom programmed computer or program it yourself with a ecc-tuner.
Those are the main mods I can think of that are "bolt-on".

I've got a bone stock 302 and I love it! I know the injected 5.0L's have even more power... Basically what I'm saying is give the stock motor a try and see if it gets the job done. Give it a good air filter and and exhaust so it can breath and you should be happy!
However, if you're into the mud boggs and hill climbs, you might want a little more. In that case, you might want to trade the 5.0L for a 351W.

If you want to squeeze a little more power out of it, but dont want to spend alot, you could always just do headers, exhuast a basic intake and a nicer ignition. There is an unlimited amount of things you can do with those late model 5.0 motors. From what ive heard you can get them to run 11s with a stock bottom end.
The larges problem area with the 5.0 are it's heads. Look into opening up this first, then headers.

I plan on running headers (jet hot coated to keep things cool) I don't plan on going into the longblock except for the cam, maybe roller rockers? I jus tfigured sense I'm going to have the motor partly tore down I should do some easy mods.

You could swap in a Ford Motorsport e -303 cam , it'll give you more usable torque where you need it . :flipoff2:

you should double check what your dealing with, you quite possible already have roller rockers and roler lifters.

I think that you should consider the ultimate plan to be a 351 with trick flow heads and intake using the 5.0 computer. That means that you should not change the intake until the 351 swap you should start with cam and heads and headers, then throttle body and MAF sensor. This is where the mustang guys start too. Then when you want to go the next step buy the 351 manifold and a 351 short block or even a stroker short block and have all the power you could ever want.

Its a roller cam, so there better be roller lifters in there. If its a stock motor it wont come with roller rockers. But probably worth the investment if your looking for more power.
I've seen about 8 Ford 5.0L motors (Non- HO) from 86+ at the local U-pull with the lower intake removed. They all have had roller motors, so the parts should be easy enough to find.

The best place i have found to actually buy the mods have been form mustang sites and catalogs. but sometimes those mustang guys get caught up in high hp:D.
