You built this in high school auto shop? Why did you decide on d30/d35?

Nice job!

Is it me or does it lean to the right.

I think you will grow to regret those axles. The Blazer looks really good but those axles are absolute crap especially since your running 35's. I wouldnt wheel it until you can slap some D44's under it. Go to the junk yard and find your self a 12 bolt rear and 10 bolt front (why didnt you keep the 12 bolt that came with it stock?). Those will handle your 35's much better.

But good work, looks damn nice man. Amazing that you got that done in 9 days. I was an assistant auto shop teacher and I know how hard it can be for a student to get any kind of work done durring class. Is amazing you did it in only 9 days. WTG

707 huh?

which school. Pretty cool job done for a HS school kid. I'd go by a reputable shop and have someone recheck it all. FAO in Vacaville is knowledgeable. all in all looks good.

I have been thinking about doing the same with my 01 show some more pics of your front spring mounts and could you get away with a 1" or 2" lift blocks? How did you work out your steering?

Please tell that those front spring hangers are not just welded to the bottom of the frame rails.

why not? nearly every yota SAS is like that, and more importantly my SAS S-10 is like that, and i rolled it corner to corner then back onto the wheels  , and the spring hanger didnt budge (see avitar)

btw, good job, looks like it could use some cleaning up to make it look more professional, but in no way is it booty fab.

i asume you went spring under cause thats how YJ D30s are from the factory, i woulda, and did, go spring over, and use smaller drop brackets, for more clearence and beter flex. but i am trying to find a way to lower mine a little, and i'm still getting a little spring wrap in the front, two issues you wont have to deal with.

why didnt you keep the 12 bolt that came with it stock?

Probably cause it came with a 28 spline 7 5/8 10 bolt. Still weaker than the 35. Even still, stronger rear is just an Exploder 8.8 away.

the stock rear is 5 on 4.75, no solid front axle matches.
and dont let the haters bother you about the D30/35, just go to the junkyard and get some spare shafts, and have some fun

From the pics it just looks like the hangers put A LOT of leverage on the bottom of the frame rails. Thats all. I have seen hangers welded like that before, but the leaf spring eye was mounted VERY close to the frame.

right on, didnt know the boys in Solano County still had skills, since it aint cool to be white anymore down there.
And I feel ya on the shop. all of todays shops in this area are all about bolting on late model aftermarket lift kits. keep up the good work.
and seems like a decent choice on the axles to get it up and running. you can always swap axles later, and it seems like you are.

yea i had help with my autoshop teacher and also a kid that did a SAS on a 86 yota. yea FAO doesnt really offer me anything except U bolts for the d30 that they had to order. yea i just wanted to get it up and running so i can work on my next swap and also on being able to drive it around to get some extra parts.

My buddy and I did an SAS on his 01 blazer our senior year in highschool with a dana 30 up front. Wheeled on it for about 2 years now and never had a problem with it. It flexes like no other for being leaf sprung front and rear. Next swap for it is a ford 8.8 rear end and fullsize chevy leaf springs. And the main attractoin is an atlas 3.8 that is sitting on the floor ready to go in. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/515961

little off topic but you are in california right? I dont think shipping the axles to you would be worth your time. If you could pick them up locally I would say slip me $75 and a case of beer and we are good. But east coast and west coast dont work out.

Do those front hangers drop a foot ?! Im with Axis on that,, thats a lot of presure if it not reinforced on the backside, Toyotas are welded, but the are welded to the frame and drop a couple inches,, they dont drop down a foot like these do. Eventually those welds or frame is going to break( if not reinforced from the side and back )

The little axles are good for the street,,,I went with narrowed d60 and 14bolt. and coils in the rear,

Nice job, you need to work on your welding a bit, but overall a nice job. If you wanted a stronger setup for the axles, you could swap them out for a d44 front and amc20 or d44 rear out of a Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The rear spring perches have to be move, but the front is the same(I think). The wheel to wheel spacing is small enough that the tires don't stick out theat far. And it is a spring under axle in the front.

D30 perch width is 1", 1/2" on each side, narrower than the waggy 44's. Should be able to get away with it though.

i did not do the welding on the front hanger a guy off of s10extremist.org did it, ive been a certified welder for the last 3 years, i would never not use gas.

i just put my rear shocks on today and 2 more lights up front, and monday im getting both driveshafts lenghtened.

That is a lot of lift for spring under. But the body is nice and reminds me of my old 93 2wd, same color and everything.
