Building up an 81 chevy with a 454, th400 and 208. Just put d60 and ff14bolt in it, and bought a 205 with adapter.

How hard is it to swap the tcases? Do i need to change the crossmember? Anything else i should look out for?

Which style/pattern 205 setup did you get?

The tall adapter works with the existing crossmember. The short adapter needs an 85-91 crossmember, or make up a spacer (box tube?) and use the crossmember you have.
