I'm looking to purchase a Q-Jet for my small block Chevy motor. Currently has an edlebrock on it. I have a stock motor with electric choke and an edlebrock (performer?) intake manifold. Can anyone tell me which Q-Jet I need for my application???? Thanks Troy

I have no smog requirements for my rig.

I just did this yesterday. I had an edelbrock 1406 on there that sucked really bad on angles. I went to the junkyard and picked up the first quadrajet that looked decent and wasn't electronically controlled. I was already wired for the electric choke from the edelbrock so I found one with that option and swapped it over. Just plug all the vacuum lines. Now mine runs great.

What size motor - cubic inches?

What year motor?

Let me know and I'll give you some numbers.

Troy,

Is your current manifold a spread bore or a square bore? (I think Edlebrock made both styles in the Performer series) If it's a square bore you'll need an adapter plate to run the Q-jet.

Do you have the Q-jet now (used or new)? If it's new you probably paid some big bucks for it!!! The Rochester Q-jet has their ID number stamped vertically on the drivers side of the main body. That number will get you real close to what year, model, and motor it came off of.

I Had The Same Problem With My 1406. I Bought The Offroad Needle And Seat Kit And It Greatly Improved Performance At Extreme Angles And Best Part Was Its Only 10 Bucks!
