Well I decided Im going to put a locker in my TJ. It has a 2" with 31", nothing major. It is my DD. I can't decide if I should lock the front or rear, my plans will to do both eventually but right now its one or the other. I live in AZ so I mostly play on trail and rocks, no mud. Any help will be great! :smokin:

What rear axle do you have? (hint: if it has a rubber fill plug it's a dana 35c, if it has a metal fill plug it's a dana 44)

You probably have a dana 35, if this is the case you should lock the front because spending money on a dana 35 is really stupid because if you continue wheeling you'll get rid of it eventually.

If you're one of the lucky few TJ's with a dana 44 rear I say lock the rear because the rear axle has the most weight on it when you're climbing and so a locker will provide more benefits in the rear axle.

Well if you lock the front what were you going to use........like an e-z locker or an ARB (selectable)? If you were going to pay all the $ for an ARB id just throw a super 35 kit in the rear with a detroit, (or a super 44 kit).......cost about the same by the time you buy the arb and the compressor.....

I would prefer having the rear locked over the front........

Age old discussion you are stirring up here. If you lock your front 30 do it with a LockRight or similar and it will take a lot of load off that rear turdy5 when you are offroad. Locking the front will make it so you need less gas getting up stuff so less chance of rear breakage. Have seen people wheel in this setup for a long time with no rear breakage.

I wouldn't spend a penny on that 35, by the time you put in the super 35 upgrades you should have just put in a 44 or 8.8 as it is a waste of money. Don't polish the turd anymore than you have to.

I would lock the rear...

...8.8 you swap in.:flipoff2:

I wouldn't spend money on the 35. If you have to lock one, I would do the front 30. You will probably be keeping it longer that the 35.
WNy not take that money and get a winch, or a cage and do the lockers later?
