i looked into putting a 727 in my cj, you can use scout parts and do it w/out an aftermarket adapter but you can't use the d18 or gears from a d18 in the conversion. its got somethign to do with the angle and splines on the bull gear.

Just get an IH 727 and swap over the tailhousing and main shaft and your chittin in tall clover.

If you have a jeep 727 tailhousing and main shaft, I'll trade ya an IH MS and TH.

a 300 does bolt right up to the rear of a 727. The rear pattern is standard NP, and the spline counts match.

I wouldn't be suprised if there was an adapter at AA

They make an adapter from NP to dana 20 for a NV4500. All that would be different for a 727 would be the spline count on the female side of the stub shaft.
