i just picked up some ltb's for trail tires. got em mounted and i was just wondering what is the best way to store them when i'm not using them. stacking them fine or should they be standing up. does it really matter? thanks

from what i have seen at tire stores the prevailing notion is to stack them.

with lots of money invested into inventory, i would think they have it right.

i have mine standing up outside, they are covered and sitting on a plastic table.

you dont want them on concrete or exposed to the sun.

id say make a little rack out of cheap 1x1 tubing (like the stuff they throw away behind lowes and advance auto that they use for the racks) and cover them with a tarp. it will keep them entirely off the ground and out of the elements

the best way to store tires is to stack them flat (they can flat spot under their oun weight) with something between them like cardboard so they don't touch and coverd so light doesn't get to then

I would stack. and put a coat of some type of tire coating like armorall. It will keep them from getting weather checked so quickly. also out of sunlight is important. other than that on concrete is fine. most tire shops stack on concrete for years or upright in racks. the only real key is to keep them out of the sun. and a std. blue tarp will not be enough. it's better than nothing, but they allow a lot of uv light through and deteriorate quickly.
