My dad's '90 just strated leaking a ton of oil since the last time he changed it. He said it's coming from the filter mount. It's a '90 4.3l, C2500. Any ideas how to fix this sucker, are there o-rings to replace inside the mount?

change filter.....Might be wrong one or even worse he went to a "jiffy lube" and they cross threaded it.... :mad3:

Well, we wouldn't dare go anywhere for something as simple as an oil change...talk about wasting mod $$$.:D I guess it could just be a faulty filter.

My XJ's 4.0l has 3 o-rings in the filter mount, I was wondering if the 4.3l had a similar setup and could be causing the problem.

Pull the filter to see if the old O Ring stayed on the block. Some brands of filters are notorious for the o ring sticking.

Does it have an factory oil cooler? If so the o-rings tend to get hard and break. GM sells a reseal kit for the adapter, its like $10 Has everything to reseal the adapter. Pretty typical thing actually. Still need to check the filter for double gaskets.

OK, that's what I was looking for, some kinda seal kit. It may have an oil cooler since the original owner got it with some sort of truck camper hauling package.

Yep, I have changed about 10 of this things. Very common thing to happen.

Dissassemble and clean. Reassemble with new gaskets and o-rings. Done! :D
