I was browsing the Australian classifieds that Nolen posted(IIRC)and found this beauty for about $2500US($4999AUS). WTF, I'd buy as many of those for that price that I could possibly afford. Maybe its time to put together an import deal...

Here (http://www.autotrader.com.au) is the link for the Aus Autorader again...

My family and I actually went to Australia last summer and it was like walking in Cruiser heaven. We found a FJ45 similar to one in the pick and the guy wanted $2000 US for it. This thing was in such good shape that is was insane. So my dad and I looked into buying a couple and bringing them over here. I worked on the deal for a little while, but them got tied up doing other stuff. I would still love to do it, but it takes a lot of work and time. It would be well worth the effort if you could pull it off. I have a couple of contacts that are still over there. So, maybe I will get back to working on that project and see what I come up with.
The only real problem, as you know I am sure, is that they are all right hand drive. If you can live with that, it would make a sweet ride.
They call all the FJ45 wagons, troopies and the FJ45 trucks flatties, (if I remember right)

If you are keen to do something like this let me or BJ42 know.
I am willing to give you guys a hand, I assume BJ42 would too.

Wagons are troopies over here and the trucks are tray backs or utes.

Short wheelbases are the go. My 1982 BJ42 with 3b diesel, front disc brakes, power steering all standard for $2500 Australian.

I've always wondered what used parts like steel doors and hoods cost Down Under.
I need those to replace my polyester doors and my bent hood.
The only problem is that i can't find those rust free in Europe.
So it might be worth the hassle to arrange shipping over here.

BTW i got a Troopie to, it's powered by a 3B, that's the only problem with it. (not enough power to outrun the cops when driving on the beach, thats illegal out here)

Thanks.

Mark,

No problem... with our 2F's, we can not out run anything, either!

Maybe we need to send you some TEXAS license plates, just tell the police you made a wrong turn and came up on the beach. :D

I was driving my German licensed BMW along the beach, when I got stopped by the Police. Fellow was quite upset with my "wrong way turn", but thankfully very polite when he heard my American accent. No ticket, and the recommendation of a nice Bistro. :D

I can just picture my girl friend if I talk her into travelling to Australia... "What do you mean you need to stop in for Land Cruiser Parts?"

Welcome aboard.

hit someone up at the right time and you can land all teh gear from these weapons for nicks, got a troopie for a few hundred, to rape some bits off and scrap the rest, and the body was not even that rusted, i needed birfs, hubs, and the front tailshaft and transfer case.......it had petrol though, made my money on it though

Hey Guys,

My (soon to be) wife and I will be doing study abroad down there this winter. I would be very interested in working with the export/import thing with y'all. I would definetly buy two for myself. If others on the board wanted to work with me I would bring some more over.

Let me know by email at jasonsclumpy@hotmail.com
