I've got an early 80's toyota, with 6x5.5 lug pattern. I'm wanting to use Daniel's (USA6x6.com) excellent price ,$50, on 37x12.5-16.5 used hummer radial tires for daily driving. The only problem is unless I go to an aluminum or forged wheel I can't seem to locate a steel wheel in this configuration.

16.5x8.25 6x5.5 2"-4" backspacing
16.5x9.75 6x5.5 2"-4" backspacing

Id like to find them for $60 or less. Any help would be appreciated, yes I know they are the same pattern as full-size chevy's but most of the factory 16.5's i've found are no where near 8" wide.

ANd i've used the http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/images/top_search.gif :flipoff2:

Thanks in advance!

The are out there - a guy I know is running a set on his Cruiser...

Seems like nonsense to me, unless you are gonna beadlock them the 16.5" tires SUCK and blow beads way too often off road... unless you are gonna beadlock them.

I know this, as you see in the quote, i plan on using the 16.5x8.25 with the 37x12.5-16.5 wrangler radial combo for daily driving. Then i can run either 36 TSL's or the 37 mt/r's and not worry about chewing them up...I put between 100-200miles a week on my current DD vehicle.

Having had a friend who had a set of these tires for "daily driving" - they SUCK. They are hard as a rock, and rode rough as can be... even on a 1.25 ton CUCV truck with a 6.2L and topper on the long bed.

But hey - if you want them, go ahead :)

Hmmmm...I'll keep this in mind...

I guess i'll just keep an eye out for a used set of BFG all terrains or MT's or something for DD, or just deal w/it and drive the 37's around everyday, once I find somebody with this $200 mystery price.

Thanks for the heads up!

I used to have five of the 8.25x16.5's with the 6 on 5.5 pattern on a '73 Suburban. I believe they were 3.5" backspacing; they were stock GM, but did NOT have the safety bead like the GM 6.75" wide wheels. I got rid of that vehicle but I believe that the rims are available. If you can't find any locally and are willing to pay the shipping I'll give you a phone number to call and find out if they really are available and what they'd cost.
