I am looking at doing a ring and pinion on my 95 ford F150, and was wondering how much it should cost to get front and rear installed at a shop?

why not do it yourself and save all that money, it isnt hard to do a gear replacement, google is filled with howto's

believe me if you do not know what you are doing as far as a rear axel goes then never tear into one! I made that mistake thinking after watching Richmond Gear's how-to intall ring and pinion gears video. What was supposed to take an afternoon took 1 1/2 weeks:mad3: . But I got it together and now my rear pinion seal still leaks on me after replacing it twice.:mad3: But the good thing is I took my time and I got the contact pattern right. But I warn you it was a nightmare for me trying to do it for the first time with no experience. That was only the rear axel! I took it to a shop to do the front axel and since this shop was the only one around that would even touch an axel I got chargered an arm and a leg. Anyway in the end it would have been cheaper to swap axels with another truck.

So now that I am done, I don't recomend doing the swap yourself unless you know what you are doing. I think shops charge more than $300 an axel though.

You might have a guy in the neighborhood who does it for the local racers. I found a guy on the east coast near my house who did the front and rear in my superduty for about 450. The front actually costs more than the back. the back was about 150 or so and the front made up the difference.

If you drop off your truck and have a shop do it, it will cost more. You can save money by pulling your diffs yourself. If you have never done a gear setup I'd recommend a shop to do it. Doing a gear setup is an art that takes time and practice.
