I have recently tried to smog my '82 toy. It has a different engine, but the exhaust manafold dosn't have a hole for an o2 sensor and the smog fittings on the manafold have 2 tubes instead of 1 which it is supposed to have. I was told that the engine was from a federal vehicle not california. The smog shop won't pass it, and it is already in there computer as not passing so I can't take it to another smog shop for some reason. All the parts that I need to make it pass wont work without replacing nearly every emission control part. my options are to either, keep buying parts, take the people I bought it from to court and get my money back, or sell it for parts. I have tried posting questions about this befor , and have not had useful answers. I can't just make it a wheeler, I need to do one of the above three things. ????????

Why not try getting a manifold from the bone yard that has the O2 sensor hole.... At least that might be a start. Did it pass the emissions test? or did they not do it because it did not pass the visual? I just got my 83 to pass on Friday afternoon :D and friday night I started tearing it apart to add fuel injection :D

I have already got a manifold with an o2 sensor and a few other parts. but the smog tube, or whatever it is that connects to it, has 2 tubes. and i need one with 1. the part on the motor that it connects to is different and I don't even know what it does. I think I found a bad smog shop. they are even telling me that I need a different carb. They said that the one I have is off a celica. ??How much is a fuel injection conversion anyway:question: and it did pass the emmissions test but failed the visual.??? I don't think he liked me very much:(

If you just bought the truck then it is the responsibility of the seller to smog the vehicle. NO QUESTION!

Is there a time limit on how long you own the vehicle for the seller to smog it? I have had it for a few months. I couldnt smog it right away because the third member went out and it took a while to get the extra money to get a new one. But the other problem is that the people I bought it from are pretty poor and It would take a while to get any money from them.

I thought that before a transfer of ownership paper can be filed, the original owner had to smog it. Unless you got it in writing that you would smog it for him, he is responsible for it.

they showed us an old smog certificate and said that it would pass. We found out that the original engine didn't pass smog, so they found someone to illegally pass it. then the engine blew up so the put a knew one in, and didn't get it smogged. They knew what they were doing, and now they are playing domb. I also have a 81 celica that has all the parts I need, but it is a daily driver at the moment. I could borrow all the parts, but I don't know how much work is involved. How much are efi toyota engines selling for??

NO QUESTION![/B This is true, what I do a lot of times is put in the Bill Of Sale that the price of the SMOG is included in the price and the buyer agrees to have it smogged. If he agreed to have it smogged whether written or verbal that is binding.
