I have a buddy at work who has an idea for a new product. I told him of the brutal honosty of the PBB and he asked me to post this and find out people thoughts....I told him I would give him the general idea, so he would not have to hear the possible "your an idiot" "eat a dick" comments :flipoff2: Here goes...
As i'm sure you all know you can purchase track kits for your 4 wheelers to make them usable on snow. What if the idea could go the other way? What about a kit that allows you to put a set of ATV tires on your snowmobile, front and back, that uses your stock suspension, and only lifts the center of gravity up a few inches depending on tire choice?
Coinsidently this was posted in the random picture post, and thats what got him wanting me to ask about this here...

Obviously it would not be that crazy, but rather using your basicly stock snowmobile and suspension and a drive system in the rear of the track (similar to what accually drives the track in the front) to transfer power to the wheels.
We are not talking about something built for mud bogging or anything like that, but rather your "luxury" rider who just pimps it around in the woods on the trails with his club or maybe something to be used as a replacement for a sport quad in some situations, cause a sled with wheels would most likely cook right along if power was transfered properly. Something like this would go nicely on my 150 HP sled that i only get to use 2 months out of the year. Would be fun to rip across my fields and at quad drags with a "sled"... plus chances are, if this was to go forth my sled would be used to allure people with it's sex appeal
Honostly I'm not sure on my thoughts about the whole thing, I have doubts about the rear "cogs" ability to reliably put the power to the tires. Any other thoughts? Price target if something like this was to make it to the light of day would be in the $250-$300 range for a rear axle "conversion kit" and front spindle kit. Customer supplies tires and rims....
BTW: Kit would be recomended for fan cooled use only for obvious reasons. I suppose a small radiator could be put on a LC machine instead of using the heat exchangers.... but that would be something to be thought about later...
So lets hear it...
Thanks
