Has anyone done this swap into a Sami? If so can you post up some pictures, found a killer deal on these axles w/ 5.38 gears + lockers. The sami specs are in my sig wanting to run around a 37 inch tire. What should I look into for steering? Right now my Sami doesn't have powersteering so that definitely need to be addressed.

I've got chevy 10 bolts front and rear and run 39.5" IROKS with a 1.6L 8 valve, headers, exhaust,. I don't have power steering yet, but it's not a problem on the road. I have about 12" or so of lift on the vehicle and another 7" lift from the tires. I have pics of my front steering if you want to see them. email me so I can send em. cajunsuzukispider@yahoo.com
It steers and drives like stock. And the 5.89 gears I got perfectly make up for the tires. I got a stock t-case right now and the speedo is accurate.

I have a 10bolt/12bolt combo under mine with 5.38's. I run 38" swampers on it with no axle breakage yet. Its basically a SPOA with YJ leaves all the way around. One of the previous owners stretched the frame in the middle and did a hack job of stretching the body. It looks like poop but serves its purpose. My WB is 108" which makes it really stable climbing stuff. Im going coils in the front since i broke my last YJ main leaf this last weekend.

Heres a pic of the front with a broken leaf.

I run a toy 2wd box that I tapped for hydro assist. The 2" ram makes the hydro assist a little bit slow but it hasnt really proven to be problem yet. We dont get to do much prerunning down here like most of the guys out west get to do, so the slowness hasnt been a problem.

Thanks for the pics...

I found a locked front and rear d44-12blt combo w/ 5.13 gears for $400. Thinking about taking them off the guys hands and maybe under my samurai. How about the spring perches? Planning on running YJ leafs all the way around would I need to spread them out wider than the stock frame locations? What about steering, definitely going to need PS w/ 37" tires.

you will have to widen the front mounts but you can still use your rear spring mounts just move the perches on the axle is your sammy a trail queen or do you drive on the street...

My Zuki is definitely a trailrig. I will try and post some pictures later. Once I break one of the zuki axles I'm probably going to be swapping in the fullsize d44 and 12 bolt. Just wanting an idea of what I was going to be getting myself into. Any problems y'all ran into that I should look forward too? How hard it is to figure out the steering and the PS box to use?

for brakes I'm running a Wilwood Chrysler unit. It bolts right up to the booster so you still have power brakes. I had to get a bolt that screwed into the Sammi brake rod and grind it down to fit with the new MC. Just need to get all the air out now as I've replaced both wheel seals in the rear 60 and I think some got in.

NO...not if your willing to do a little extra work on the axle...cut the long side of a full size Chevy front down to accept a long side inner axle from a Scout II Dana 44.

This lets you use the stock cast spring perch...with no outboarding of the springs.

Looks like this with YJ's...

This matches almost perfectly with a Wagoneer Cherokee Chief / J-10 P/U with Q-trac option "wide-Trac" rear 44 diff.

As a side note...I used BTF high steer arms...the tie rod and drag link from a "standard width" wagoneer frt 44 worked perfectly on the Zuk.

For brakes I use the stock samurai booster/master cylinder with chevy blazer 1/2 ton calipers. Now there are 3 different calipers for the 1/2 ton chevy. And usually, they are not boxed correctly, so you will have to tell the guy at autozone to pull them all. Bring with you a 'banjo bolt' from the front brakeline where it mounts to the sammy caliper. One of the blazer calipers fits precisely the sammy bolt. they are supposed to be '89 blazer calipers, but you'll have to check until you get a left and right caliper that fit the sammy bolt. I barely 'prepump' the brakes and get a very hard high pedal. without the 'quick prepump' the brakes still get hard, just lower to the floor.
I got almost 6' wheel travel and use stock length brake lines, too. it's all in how you route it. I got pics if anyone wants to see.

If you go to the firebird master cylinder you wont have to pump your brakes to get a high pedal.

We are just in the process of coll\lecting parts for a kick project, PS drop dana 44's from and 80's waggy, jeep 2.5 built and aw4 tranny with custom adapter to run a divorced sammy box, XJ leafs front and rear should be fun and cheap:D

We just stuck a chevy master cylinder to a Zuk booster... and we had to elongate the holes a hair in the master cylinder but i think it is going to work.

I have been running a zuk booster and master cylinder on my comp buggy for some time now, it needs just a little more stopping power..

We will hook up brake lines and ill let you know how it works out.

I have one off of an 80 firechicken, just elongated the holes like you found out. Makes sure that you seal up around the booster behind the MC or you will have a vacuum leak. I just put some RTV in the channel in the back side of the MC and let it push out.

Quick question regarding full width.

I'm sort of stuck between the likes of True Full Width (say like a D44/14bolt) and Toy axles with a 2" backspaced wheel.

The Toy axles with your basic 4" backspaced wheel just doesn't seem wide enough but the True Full Width seems a little too wide.

Would the Toy axle with a 2" backspaced wheel be right in the middle? Anyone got a set up like this I can (front profile)?

Also, some say toy axles are stronger then D44's, some say they are not. What's the truth? Which has smaller pumpkins and more gearing/locker options?

HalfFastFord, saw your picture on the first page and visited with you at Zukifreeze. Four Wheel Parts on north May is having their March madness sale tomorrow, the 11th. They will have our 30 degree ramp there. I want to see you ramp that 2256 you speak of.:flipoff2:

Wish I could make it, but alas, work calls. May stop by there though to give them a piece of my mind. Ruined the axle seals and hub in my wife's truck. But, I digress. I will replace the rear springs and ramp it for you. and by the way, it's 2226.:flipoff2:
