My cat is going bad. I would like to take it off altogether. What is the tube that goes into the side? What would I do with the tube if I did away with the cat and put a piece of pipe in? I live in MS so I don't have to worry about emissions inspection.

if it has a smog pump its just a way to get air to the converter. you may have to follow it to see where it starts.
