Hey, folks. I recently moved to the oregon coast and would like my truck to not disinegrate in the next 5 years. The extent of my auto body skills are pretty much a bobbed bed with a rattlecan to finish it up. I basicly want to tear her down to the frame, sandblast , start with some sort of rust inhibitor basecoat and possibly finish with smooth duraback. I figured you landcruiser guys have more experience with rust proofing/ repair than us pickup/4runner guys do. I've never painted a vehicle before:confused: so all advice is greatly appreciated.Thanx

I like the rust bullet. It seems that the Por-15 takes a lot more prep and more steps to do it right. Don't get me wrong, they are both good. I have used both and I like the bullet better.

Yeah I was kinda' leaning towards the bullet. Do they make a sprayer that can get inside the frame rails somehow?

Check with your local automotive paint refinish store. If you've got clean blasted metal, there are many products that will meet your needs. I'm partial to using 2 part urethane coatings. PPG, Dupont, etc (the major companies) have very durable, high film build coatings. Look at the data sheet for comparable tests to make your decision.

I have an opinion that there are better products than POR or other similar coatings for a similar price. Just my opinion though.

I second the ZeroRust. Really easy to use and does a great job. Some folks use it as a finish coat, it looks that good.
