Anyone know off hand what the long side (left) of the inner axle measures from a dodge 44 front axle?

Are you speaking of the drivers side ??
If so, the measurement is 18 1/8" measured along the shaft, not including the 2 3/4" ears for the u-joint.
Is this what you needed ?? What are you doing with it ??

I am thinking of trimming down the long side(drivers) and fitting it with a stock shorter inner axle to bring the width to about 61. It's a Jeep application, and by every means this axle seems the best.

If you are adding the 18 1/8 and the 2 3/4 that equals 20 7/8ths.:)

By convention, the measurement should be from the end of the shaft to the center of the ujoint bore. Don't know why you seem to want to invent your own system(s).
