ok got a new inner axle w/longer spline to fit my 80 locker into my 55 front. got to thinking is there a way to run a marlin tack on it?? so dont have to replace circlip.
the only way i come up with is to install the slide clutch, add the tack then install to diff. but even if that works then assbly wont come apart if have to replace a birf.

is this even possible or do i have no choice but to run circlip??

I'm running factory lockers and I have no circlips. When the thirds were off the axle housing, I tried to slip a long splined axle into the diff. It couldn't go much past what the normal engagement is. There are cross shafts (don't know what they're called) that keeps it from going in. So I don't think a martack is needed.
