I have painfully been searching for about 2 hours on Disc brake conversions! I have a mid 70's Ford rear D60 with 30 spline shafts. What do I need to convert this unit to disc brakes? From what I gathered I need to purchase or build a caliper bracket, I can build that. I also gathered that I need to use 3/4 ton GM rotors and calipers! What axle would these 3/4 ton parts be off of, D60 GM front? My 3/4 ton sub doesn't have a 60 in it! Also do I need to get studs or do these come with the rotors?

Thanks:

I know a lot of guys use the D44 calipers and any GM eight lug rotor...the calipers come with new bolts that usually thread into the bracket...but I think a welded nut would work alright too...you can use your old studs if they are in good shape otherwise just get some new ones(no they dont come with the rotors)...you will still need to use your hub though:D:D:D

Try a search in the Ford forum. It's been covered before.

But since I am in a kind mood...

I was going to suggest the same thing but since he said he plans on making the brakets I didn't...total with everything you need from them it would run ya about $500...for a complete bolt on kit thats not too bad...I know SSbrakes wants about $795 for starters:eek:

I used 83 dodge 3/4 ton front rotors (slip over the hub like the drums do, only require light grinding on the outside of the hub for clearance, about 1/16"), 76 caddilac eldorado rear calpers, and brackets from www.aa-mfg.com, with those on the back, and stock 79 f250 front brakes under my bronco it locks all 4 38.5's with about half pedal travel (at 45-50 mph)
