: Lurker comes out
CabtopXLC 02-11-2006, 12:31 PM I guess I'll come out of the shadows and do my introduction so I can get the flaming over with.
My build up project is an original '75 cabtop that I bought from the original onwer in '81. This is a long term project (just ask Bill (USN-1) Hamilton (fuel injection). The body is fiberglass front to rear. The doors have been replaced with SSII inserts. The only body part that is original is the original cabtop.

The engine is a 392 out of a '73 Travelall. It goes to a T-19 wide, that goes to a Klune-V (4:1), that goes to a NP205.

The latest purchase is the JB Conversions 3:1 gears.

The axles are D60 front with ARB, 5.13, Superior 35 spline inner and outers, Poly performance slugs, OTT industries high steer arms, and PSC hydraulic assist. The rear is a 14-bolt with ARB, and ORU rear disk brakes.
Wheels are the 12 bolt HUMVEE with internal rubber beadlocks and tires are 38.5x14.5x16.5 TSL SXs.
Other toys include an M12000 in the front, M8000 in the rear, Premier Power welder, and OBA compressor and tank.
There is more info at http://www.northtexasbinders.com/MembersRide2.aspx?AutomobileID=20
The picture there needs to be updated.
Hope you enjoy the pictures. I'll post pictures of the build-up. Working on it just doesn't happen frequently enough.
Later,
Brett
Snoopy 02-11-2006, 12:44 PM Looks like a piece of
Now give it to me! ;)
Welcome aboard. Looks like another newbie not worthy of flamage to me.
Oh, you need to post more up to date pictures, we'll like you better that way. ;)
SSGTWC 02-11-2006, 12:54 PM Welcome
How much body lift is on your rig?
JoshC 02-11-2006, 01:35 PM How much body lift, jeeeeez. Don't even answer that gayass question. :flipoff2:
I would like to hear a write up on the Klune behind your T19. :grinpimp:
Urban Wheeler 02-11-2006, 01:43 PM Thos steel tops are prone to cracking in the corners. I have a line on some fiberglass tops if you want to swap.

I messed around for about a year trying to figure out how to do it. I finally ran across the http://www.motivegear.com site and looked up the Ford T-19. Everyone had told me that the IH mainshaft was larger than the Ford main shaft. Looking at their site I found that the snap ring set for the IH and Ford transmissions were the same. That led me to believe that they were the same diameters. I ordered a Ford shaft from them and measured every dimension and found them to be the same as the IH except for the output end of the shaft. I then contacted AA and ordered their Ford T-19 to Jeep 300 23 spline output shaft and adapter. When I got it I measured it. It was the same as the IH shaft.
The machining on the back of the IH T-19 case must be different than the Ford case. I ended up drilling and tapping the IH case in 6 places. Two of them lined up with the AA adapter holes. The other four I drilled into the AA adapter. I put studs in the new holes and put set screws with red locktite into the old holes. I just bolted up the adapter and was good to go. By the way I'm using the cheapest of the IH T-19s. It's a two wheel drive case. I bought several for $50/each. I was able to slide an NP-241(?) from a Dodge Dakota on it for fun.
At any rate, I bought the Klune-V like it was to go in place of a Jeep D300. I bought two outputs for it. The first was the NP205 race-track shape with a 10 spline. The second was the standard circle with 32 spline shaft. The nice thing about the Klune-V is that it acts like a universal adapter in itself. The only difficulty was getting it to connect to the T-19. According to the Klune-V website they now are officially offering the 6 spline input. Their website stated it before, but they didn't really have it.
I still need to clock the Klune. I don't want the NP205 to hang below the frame rails at all. The front drive shaft will be straight u-joints 1410. The rear will be a 1410 at the 14-bolt and 1350 CV at the back of the NP205. I have a High Angle Drive line e-brake ordered for the back of the NP205. I wanted the extra holding power after a high speed backing incident at our last North Texas Binders Round-up in my other truck.

It is. I'm running threaded rod with turnbuckles from the body to the frame in an X pattern to keep the body from moving. Another unfortunate problem on a hill, where I pulled my steering shaft out of the Borgeson u-joints, when the body shifted back.
I need the body lift to clear the rather long transmission combination.

Shadow man 02-11-2006, 02:42 PM [QUOTE]This is a long term project
No way could it be longer than Moses's latest build, AKA Snoopy. :flipoff2:
It looks like you are building you a great one there. Good for you. :)

From 81-06.....
It's a long build up!!!
Welcome Brett!
My only regret before leaving TX was not getting to wheel with ya in that thing. (and not converting you to GM FI from that Holley projection):D
But I will be back!!
Maybe it will be ready for the 08 RMIHR and Moab trip!!!!
Got to start planning now!
budget76 02-11-2006, 03:34 PM i like it. i never used to like the cab tops, but once i put one on mine they grew on me a lot, now i like it more than convertible. i really like the look of yours.
saw in the pics you had a WeatherGuard drawer unit installed. for the one mounting to the bed, did you have to do anything but what looks like pull the 'locks' off the wheelwells for the rear seat? any idea what that one cost ya? i'll be searching right after i hit submit;)

It never had the the latch on the wheelwells. I don't know how much it cost. I try to forget those things as quickly as possible. It is very well built. It seems to be the IH of truck accessories. It will support 1,000 lbs and weighs 300 lbs itself.
And "Thanks". I've always liked the looks of the cabtop. They do tend to split in the corner, but it just gets welded back up.

Just cahnge your name to "Tom Moses"
binderbart 02-11-2006, 08:41 PM WOW.......WOW...... nice looking rig. Now my projects seem short-ranged.
Did you do something to the top? cut it? I noticed in the picture it looks like a section of it can be removed. I also have a terra with the steel top. I like it better than the fiberglass until I hit rumble strips.
TheCopperCowboy 02-11-2006, 09:41 PM Nice rig! You sure got some skills and a few duccets into the mechanicals. Stop lurking and step into the light. Post up some of build. What's your driveline measurements now with the Klune addition? :smokin:
Binderman 02-11-2006, 10:33 PM What's your driveline measurements now with the Klune addition? :smokin:
Its going to be coupled directly to the rear diff yoke.:D
Anyone here have a SV,727,203,205,14b setup? If so how long is your rear driveshaft? Will this combo fit in my 800 without extending the wheelbase? Any measurements of the 727,doubler combo??
Brett, does the motel know you have auto parts in your room?:D
Glad to see ya got the JBC parts/pieces.

I'm not sure what part you are looking at. Other than the glass and gasket being out of it, it is stock.
What's your driveline measurements now with the Klune addition?
Overall it is only about 11-12" longer than stock. It would probably go in the Traveler better, but I'm too far into this to switch now.
Its going to be coupled directly to the rear diff yoke.
Brett, does the motel know you have auto parts in your room?
Thanks Chuck. No they don't know it yet. I guess I'll have to box it up and quit admiring it.

My hope is that it be ready for this years Round-up so I can start working out any kinks. We look forward to you being back in our neck of the woods.
Here's a better picture of just the AA Ford T-19 to D300 adapter on the back of the 2WD IH T-19. You can see the wholes I had to drill and the studs inserted. There is one more stud on the right side, at the bottom, to the left of the hole you can see, hidden by some of the webbing.

binderbound 02-17-2006, 11:50 PM Just thought I would chime in. It was a factory terra I would say from the fact that it had the terra top and he bought it from the original owner. A terra would not have had rear seat latch studs. It never would have had a back seat.
Thanks for the news flash.
I think the BB is flashing the porch light.you better get inside before the street lights come on.:flipoff2:
Fawking noobs:rolleyes:
DJForrestA 02-18-2006, 01:39 AM From the title I thought this would involve something about Brokeback Mountain. Glad to see it was scout related. Speaking of the Movie I heard OS was a stunt double for the love scenes anyone else hear that.
dukguy 02-18-2006, 02:00 AM Nice rig. I don't know who's gonna flame you around here, most of the people around here are web wheelers like me:flipoff2: . Now finish it so you can get it on the trails!
binderbound 02-18-2006, 08:23 PM shut the fuck up binderbound shit for brains. You know me? thought not. Don't even start, you can't hang. Dickweed internet fag. Your 4x4 doesn't even run!! what the fuck do you know? stole that avatar didn't ya!
Your almost too much.if you knew how to search or read more than 1 thread you might know what's going on.if I did know you I wouldn't admit to it:rolleyes:
What are you trying to prove?if its your a missinformed newb with nothing more than a tiny E-penis,then your doing a good job.
I have totaled more rigs wheeling than you wil ever hope to get dirty.as far as my projects...notice its project 2,what do you think 1 is?that's right stinky pants,my avatar.that is a stock/mod class COMP crawler.its been through 2 seasons of WE Rock comps.it has more hardware than you would even know what to do with.
If you had searched you would known:rolleyes:
Again,eat my ass.
Gen. Nonsense 02-18-2006, 09:39 PM Again,eat my ass.BRILLIANT!
Bindernut 02-19-2006, 03:18 PM It was a factory terra I would say from the fact that it had the terra top and he bought it from the original owner.
It may have been a factory halfcab for that reason, but not a Terra. Terra tops are fiberglass and slope backwards a bit on the back. Did you even read the rest of this thread about the steel cracking and see the pictures?
A terra would not have had rear seat latch studs. It never would have had a back seat.
A Terra would not have had a 100" wheelbase, either... :shaking:
Again, eat my ass.
Get a room, you two! :flipoff2::laughing: :grinpimp:
CabtopXLC 02-19-2006, 05:53 PM It was an original steel cabtop/halfcab. It developed rust on the inside driverside wall of the bed. I didn't have any in the ordinary rust places. I did the all fiberglass thing so I don't have to worry about that aspect of Scout IIs.
Brett
Rockabilly 02-19-2006, 06:10 PM BRILLIANT!
I second that :D
Gen. Nonsense 02-19-2006, 06:19 PM As for binderbound didn't seach for anything pertaining to you, don't care. Can't be bothered. This is my last reply to this. I cant be a newb or what ever, doesn't it say joined 2004? BTW looked for my e-penis, wife looked too, can't find it so it must be small. I do tend to spend more time in the hills than on the internet, Only on it now cause of the cold snap. By the way 2 projects qualifies you as a newb around here. been doin this since I was 16, and I'm along way from there. BTW my current junkyard/parking lot consists of 10 scouts from restored to just a frame left. 2 IH 4 wheel trucks, a willy's and a parts rig. A landcruiser (restored). A chev 4x4, A couple for fords including a 79 bronco. a KB-1 and something that I am forgeting. One scout has four link and 44's (not really stock). Oh thats what I forgot, A IH travelette 4x4, Brutus box 401, T-19, 205, 203, 60,70, on 35's. Not really a rockcrawler, but tows anything. Will you STFU already?! Nobody here gives a flying fuck about you or how many projects you have worked on or how many piles of shit you have in your junk yard, (youre stoking that e-penis again) and I sure as fuck wouldnt post about it either, cause frankly its embarrassing. Looks to me like your trying to pick a fight that you will more than likely lose. You could have just typed your apology and dropped it instead of posting drivel and trying to talk shit to binderbound.
