I had a wheel bearing go out on my 79 cj5 a few weeks ago. I stripped it down and replaced the inner and outer bearings and races and the greese seal, then when I tried to put it back together it would go. I figured out that the plastic part that fits in the front of the rotor (after the seal, bearings, spindle nuts and washers) , it is the plastic piece that goes just before the hub assembly, the hub spring rests agianst it, and the gear that fits over the spindle is retained in the inner circle of this piece.

WHen the bearing failed, and I think the nuts were not tight enough, this piece got fairly F'd up. It is cracked and the gear(that goes on the end of the spindle) will not fit on the spindle far enough to get that little C type clip on the end of the spindle.

I checked all auto parts stores in town, and no one could get it. They said go to the dealer. I hate the dealer. They will probably order me the wrong thing, change me twice what it should cost and make me wait a month.

Were else can i get this. There are no jeeps in the junk yards around me, except a early 90s wrangler. Does this jeep have the dana 30? If so will it have this piece?

If not are thier any other rigs that I could find this part off of? DO any other vehicles have dana 30s? I would like to find it used, very soon?

Or do I have to go to the dreaded dealer?

Any input helps
thanks
Tony
