well better yet f-ford explorer 8.8/curriehp9 rear disc brakes. :mad3:

Was working on bajg rig all day again today and let me tell you how much of a bitch the rear disc brakes are on these fawkers!! the guy that invented this set up is a real genius. :mad3:

The emergancy brake drum system is impossiple to work with, if you put the little pads on before the axle goes in, you can't get the plate with the four holes in it that holds the axle in the housing because you can't get even a small screw driver in between the pads and the end of the axle shaft, and if you put the axle in first, you can't get the little pads in either because there is no room to the springs on. f-it we left those fawkers out!! :mad3:

can you tell I am a little frustrated with this setup?? :mad3:

old scout i could see it being simple..... but, the backing plate for some reason wont just slip on like my 44 did, it was a bitch (on both sides) just getting the backin plate on without the e brakes in the way...........

I agree. That exloder disc kits sucks. I bought one from dutchman and the sent me one for the wrong bolt pattern, no way could I get the disc over the moser axle flange without turning them down and that ebrake is just :rainbow: I sent the shit back and bought the kit from tsm. www.tsmmfg.com

Just do it a few times, you'll get good at assembling the parking break stuff with the axle shaft installed which i think is what your getting at, just have to be creative.

you can't, there is absolutly no room to get anything in between the axle flange and the little drum brakes, I should have taken pictures so you could see better what I am talking about.

You are going to have to turn down the O.D of the axle flange like I did. You can take these to a machine shop or use a 4" angle grinder like I did. I put the axle in the housing tube and then ran the grinder at a right angle to the flange so that the axle would rotate a little while grinding (You'll want to put some pressure on the flange with your foot so it doesn't spin around too much). I had to take about .25" off mine, but measure your flange in relation to your discs and this will tell you how much you need to take off.

I thought that both of you were going to Bigdogs this week??? Isn't Skip having a comp down there? I think there is more than just pro rocks or jellico for competion-what about the Premier's contest later this year????

You can swap over to the e-brake shoes and hardware kit from a 97 ZJ. Uses only two springs instead of the four that the Ford's use. Much easier to get on and off from behind the axle flange.

Other years of the ZJ work also, just stay away from the 94's as that was the first year and some things are unique to that year.

I have A ford 9" with disc brakes on it I will sell you. They are factory disc brakes with the ebrake cables and everything is there.

For the backing plate, put two nuts in a deep socket so the outer one just barely hangs onto the socket.
Works fine for me.

ya, thats about the only thing that would work,

so instead of doing that we just left them off. It's not my rig so if bajg wants to turn down the shafts more power to em, I wouldn't worry about it since he doesen't use the e-brake anyway!
