Anyone done this? I am looking to fab one up for my brother. Exhaust clearance issues.
Looking to make the cross member and then a flat skid below. Easily removable to work on the drive train separate from the cross member.
Chad.

This is a terrinble idea, I don't know what your thinking, XJ's have a unibody and can't take that stress, jeeze what are you thinking?
Hey Chad :flipoff2:
My input is to plate the frame with 1/8 or 3/16 where you weld up the tabs for the x-member. wrangler bushings on each end and push it as high as you can.

Hah. I should have known you were going to trash me here. Post #2.
But thats what I was leaning towards. I'll probably just crawl under there and start building.

Chad it was too easy, i saw your name and went "oh this will be fun".
Anyway, I'd try and use 1x1x3/16 tubing, and weld on a lip for the the tranny to sit on and bolt to. Angle iron for the lip allows your to weld it a lot more than just a piece of plate on the bottom |[]__
